First National Bank of <strong>Cold</strong> <strong>Spring</strong><br />

H.A. Barns made the first bank and named it The <strong>St</strong>ate Bank of <strong>Cold</strong> <strong>Spring</strong> on May<br />
2, 1902. On May 2, 1902, the bank started with $11,000 dollars and got to $75,000,000<br />
dollars. In March of 1926, bank robbers blew up the bank and stole most of the money.<br />
In 1946, Fred V. <strong>St</strong>ein became president and served until he died in 1959. In February of<br />
1960 they added on to the existing the building. In 1978 they made a new bank in<br />
downtown Rockville. They have 32 employees at the bank today.
