Pastor’s Message
The Parish Festival planning is going well. If you haven’t been
contacted to help, feel free to call the Parish Office, 685-3280,
and we will put you in a much needed spot. We apologize to
anyone that has been overlooked. Once in a while the left
doesn’t know what the right is doing when putting together
such a big project.
I hope everyone is admiring the quilts that have been on display
in the Narthex. They will be auctioned off on August 19th at
2pm in the Parish Center. Don’t miss this event. Also, the
chicken dinner preceding the auction is going to be worth your
while.
August 15th is a Holy Day of obligation for us this year. Mass will
be celebrated at 8am in the church and 8pm at Chapel Hill.
Reflection
We live in a time of enormous and expensive preoccupation
with the body and physical appearances. It is critical to many
people today that they “look marvelous”. For many of them it
is more important to look good than to be good. Huge sums of
money are spent on diets, bodybuilding, fitness centers,
cosmetics and plastic surgery. The condition of our soul should
be of more concern to us because the state of our soul affects
everything else about us, even our appearance. Spiritual health
is about more than being stress-free. If we were to take an
individual and satisfy all of his or her material needs by providing
an unlimited budget for food, shelter and clothing,
dissatisfaction would soon surface because we have further
needs that surface only after the more basic ones are satisfied.
When every apparent need has been met, one realizes a need
of God. If only we could remember that nothing material can
satisfy our inborn need for God.

“Kodiak” 3-6pm, raffle drawing & car raffle at 6pm.

Picnic Tables - If you are willing to donate the use of your picnic table for use on the grounds of the St.
Boniface Parish Festival—please call Pete or Brenda , 685-8418. Tables will be picked up early on Saturday
August 17th and returned on Monday August 20th. Thank you in advance for your help!
Items needed for the dining room - Any kind of pies and desserts may be brought to the parish center
on Saturday or Sunday morning. Also many heads of cabbage are needed, these should be brought
by 9am Saturday or call 685-3946 to have them picked up. Fresh flowers to decorate the dining
room. Thanks for all your generosity and help!
Quilt Auction - We are still collecting quilts for the St. Boniface quilt auction. We will be displaying
them in the narthex through-out the summer. They will also be pictured on the St. Boniface Website.

CHRISTIAN BOOK CLUB would you be interested in joining a Christian Book Club that would meet monthly
beginning in September? It’s a great way to deepen your understanding of living our Christian life by sharing your
insights with a small group. Registration forms will be available next weekend.
RCIA Did your spouse, co-worker, or neighbor ever indicate an interest in becoming a Catholic? The RCIA
team will begin offering sessions this fall for adults who want to receive the sacraments of initiation (baptism, confirmation,
Eucharist) or become Catholic. Call Sister Marlene for more information.
