Friday 7 th January <strong>2011</strong><br />

<strong>WA</strong>RM UP PROCEDURE<br />

All coaches and swimmers must be aware of general warm up procedures which will apply at all<br />

meets conducted by the SWIMMING <strong>WA</strong>.<br />

The following general pool procedures for the MAIN COMPETITION POOL must be observed<br />

throughout the meet:<br />

o Lanes 1 & 8 are reserved for dive sprints from the start end of the pool. Swimmers must clear the<br />

lane immediately.<br />

o Lane 2 & 7 are reserved for pace swimming (no diving).<br />

o Lanes 3 – 6 are reserved throughout the whole of the warm up period as circle swimming lanes.<br />

The following general pool procedures for the DIVE POOL must be observed throughout the meet:<br />

o Lanes 2 – 5 are designated for the duration of the meet as circle swimming lanes. Feet<br />

o first entry.<br />

o Lane 6 is designated for the duration of the meet as a pace lane.<br />

In addition to the procedures above be aware of announcements to determine lane usage<br />

throughout the meet, as usage may vary at the discretion of the Meet Director.<br />

Additional Information:<br />

• The Meet Director may at any time remove a swimmer from the warm up pool if he or she does<br />

not abide by these procedures.<br />

• Swimmers must leave the water by the end of the warm up session as published in the meet<br />

program, or when requested. Swimmers who do not exit the pool when requested to do so may<br />

be disqualified from that day’s competition. The request to leave the pool will be announced 15<br />

minutes prior to the advertised start time of meet.<br />

• Similar rules are followed at all National meets and are set in place to allow warm ups to be<br />

completed by all swimmers without injury or inconvenience. Please abide by them.<br />

MARSHALLING<br />

All swimmers will marshal before each event in the designated area. Swimmers are requested to<br />

report to the marshal promptly when the event number is displayed on the marshalling board and<br />

have their names marked off.<br />

Any entrant, who fails to report to the marshalling area at least ten (10) minutes prior to scheduled<br />

time for the start of the session (if entered in the 1 st or 2 nd event) or, at least two (2) events prior to<br />

the event in which she/he is entered, shall be deemed to be a withdrawal.<br />

WITHDRA<strong>WA</strong>LS<br />

Out of consideration for fellow swimmers, spectators and officials, swimmers are requested to<br />

withdraw from events they do not intend to swim. Withdrawals should be made at the withdrawal<br />

table located in the marshalling area. The withdrawal slip provided must be completed by the<br />

swimmer or his/her representative.<br />
