SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT
The Department of Education in KwaZulu-Natal would like to assure the public that the National School
Nutrition Programme will go on as usual when schools re-open from the winter break on Monday the 15
July 2013. This is against the backdrop of some misleading media reports saying the Department has lost
the case that is before court regarding the National School Nutrition Programme.
The matter between the Department and some service providers came before court on Friday 05 July 2013
and was adjourned for 15 July 2013. It is therefore incorrect, misleading and borders on shoddy journalism
for some media houses to publish that the Department lost this case as it has been published recently.
The Department of Education in KwaZulu-Natal is committed to the principle of transparency and access to
information, on the same breath, the Department would appreciate for all media houses to practice honesty
and integrity in their reporting.
