Events, Events & More Events The essential resource for the transport, logistics and supply chain professional. LAA once again capped off the year with a number of events around the country. NSW Golf Day On October 27 LAA held its annual NSW golf day at Camden Lakeside Golf Course, Narellan. NSW: LAA/apics NSW joint dinner meeting LAA and apics NSW members recently attended the dinner meeting on October 20, where Angela Bridges gave an outstanding presentation on the topic of Measuring and Optimising Capability - Closing the Loop for Supply Chain Performance. QLD: LAA Christmas Cocktails/ Networking and Awards presentation During early November LAA hosted its second invitation only Meet the LAA event at Customs House, Brisbane. To those new members, special Friends of the LAA and our Award winners we say thank you. Whilst it was a small group, it was good to cap off the year meeting our new members, thanking our mentors and mentees, and meeting our University of Southern Queensland Student award winner. Tegan Case won the LAA student award for the highest marks in the Logistics Management course at USQ.

NSW: LAA Corporate Networking Presentation Another Meet the LAA event was hosted at the NSW Department of Industry and Investment, Sydney. Again we met many new members along with our Friends of the LAA. Steve O’Keefe, Royal Australian Navy, also provided an enlightening presentation on Naval Logistics and his experiences with the HMAS KANIMBLA. Dispatch Newsletter 2011 Call for Editorial Submissions LAA is now taking editorial submissions for the Dispatch Newsletter 2011. 11 issues are published annually with submissions taken for either 750 or 1500 word articles with the following philosophy: • Articles will be considered by the LAA editorial board but are not guaranteed for publication should they not meet the editorial board’s criteria. • Articles may be single authored or co-authored. • Articles will be considered on an array of topics such as: logistics, supply chain, transportation, operations management, supply, procurement, import and export, customers, sales, outsourcing, offshoring, people in the supply chain, and any topics related to these areas in our industry. • Articles will be considered on the basis of issues-based content. Supplier information or advertorials will not be considered. • Articles will be considered on topics such as: Materials Handling, Warehousing and Distribution, IT Capability, 3PL/4PL, Freight forwarding, Human Resources issues, Manufacturing, and other issues and trends in logistics and supply chain. • Case studies, opinion pieces (with multiple source views and supporting arguments), research summaries and outcomes, are good examples and may include graphs, diagrams and pictures to support the article. Other links to websites, multi-media, simulations etc., will also be considered for relevance to the article and members. • Supplier information or advertorials will not be considered. • It is recommended that a brief concept, key points and overview be sent to the Editorial Board for feedback and comment prior to a complete article being written. • Final publication will include a photo of the contributor as well as name, title and business. • Note: In some cases selected articles may be published in a later issue than originally intended if the Editorial Board believes that recent events or current activities result in the topic of another article being more relevant for that issue.
