Motion by Vice President Miller, seconded by Lisa Friend for the Board of Education to approve the following:
WHEREAS, the Board of Education has and continues to explore measures to fulfill its obligations to the
residents and taxpayers of the Lackawanna City School District in an efficient and economical manner; and
WHEREAS, in that spirit, the Board has recently conducted an informal canvass of various surrounding school
districts to determine the number of election district and polling places utilized by said districts in the conduct of
the annual elections of Board members and budget votes; and
WHEREAS, that informal canvass has revealed that the vast majority of said school districts efficiently employ
and utilize a single voting district and polling place to conduct these annual elections and budget votes; and
WHEREAS, the Board has determined that the designation of one (1) election district and polling place within
the Lackawanna City School District for the conduct of the annual election of Board members and the District
Budget vote would result in significant cost savings to the District without any disruption in the voting process
and, as such, would be in the best interest of the School District.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the nineteen (19) election districts previously established by
and for the Lackawanna City School District be and same hereby are replaced by one (1) single election district
for the entire District.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a single polling place for the conduct of the annual election of Boardmembers
and District Budget vote shall be located at the Martin Road Elementary School, 135 Martin Road,
Lackawanna, New York 14218
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to take all steps, which
may be necessary to effectuate this resolution.
