SUPER Saturday Contest Day Results
St. Martin Parish 4-H held its SUPER Saturday Contest Day on February 4, 2012, at Breaux Bridge
High School. 4-H’ers participated in the Commodity Ambassador Speech Contest, the Beef Cookery
Contest, the Seafood Cookery Contest, the Chick-N-Que Contest, the Iron Chef Competition, and the
Rabbit Show.
The Commodity Ambassador Program is designed for education and enhancement of 4-H club
members. This program emphasized five specific Louisiana agricultural commodities including egg,
chicken, turkey, sugar, and seafood. All first place winners will represent St. Martin Parish at the State
Commodity Ambassador Speech Contest at LSU in Baton Rouge on April 24, 2012.
In the Beef Cookery Contest, 4-H’ers brought in their favorite Low Calorie, Quick & Easy, and
One Dish Meals for judging. In the Seafood Cookery Contest, 4-H’ers competed in the Crab, Crawfish,
Shrimp, Oyster, Fish and any other Seafood Categories. First place winners in each category will go on to
compete at the Southwest Region’s Commodity Cookery Contest on March 28, 2012, in Crowley.
The Chick-N-Que Competition gave 4-H’ers a chance to show off their barbequing skills as they
barbequed a half chicken on site. Members were required to bring all of their supplies and equipment
for this contest. Scores were based on their barbequing skills, safety, and the doneness, appearance,
taste, and texture of the finished product.
High school teams got a chance to show off their culinary talents by participating in the Iron
Chef Competition. 4-H’ers had to work in teams to create two courses using the mystery ingredient of
apples within the 60 minute time limit.
Rabbit exhibitors from throughout the parish got a chance to participate in the St. Martin Parish
Rabbit Show during this contest day. Participants competed for Best of Breed and Best Opposite for
each breed, and these winners got a chance to win Best in Show or First Runner Up.
Adult and youth volunteers helped to make this contest day a success. Adult volunteers
included Gloria Degeyter, Megan Albert, Mavis Landry, Elsie Castille, Cynthia Hayes, Debbie Cormier,
Linda Lajaunie, Norma Olivier, Anna Stoutes, Jeannette Stelly, Betty Guidry, Rose Blanchard, Cathy Clark,
Rebecca Clark, Anna Borel, Mary Beth Cantu, Tremaine Rossyion, Louis Blanchard, Chef Colt Patin, Becky
DuBois, and Amy Lukaszeski . St. Martin Parish 4-H Junior Leaders who volunteered for this event

The 2012 St. Martin Parish Rabbit Show was held on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at the St. Martin Parish
Livestock Show Barn. Ten 4-H’ers exhibited twenty-two rabbits at this year’s show. The results are as
