Susana is an attorney advisor with the Disability Rights Section, Civil Rights Division at the DOJ. Allen Smart has been named chair of the National Advisory Committee for the national County Health Rankings and Roadmaps project, an initiative led by the University of Wisconsin. Allen is also director of the Health Care Division at the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust. He received a Naomi Morris Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Public Health last spring. 1984 The Class of 1984 will be celebrating its 30th Reunion June 6–8, 2014. Karen Echo Leighton Humber and her husband, Fred, were appointed co-pastors of Peninsula Church of the Nazarene in Long Beach, Wash., in July. Karen looks forward to bringing her background as a teacher specializing in dyslexia and her 17 years’ experience as an associate pastor in Portland to bear in her new position. 1991 Brian Bull received the Best Reporter Award from the Ohio Associated Press for his coverage of business, economics, and human interest stories with WCPN- FM, a National Public Radio Affiliate serving Cleveland and northeastern Ohio. Since moving to Ohio, Brian, his wife, Margaret Bull ’96, and their children have been visited by Tom Burrell ’89 and Sherri Middendorf ’90. Amelia Derr received her doctorate this year and has been hired as an assistant professor in Seattle University’s Department of Anthropology, Sociology, and Social Work. She lives in Seattle with her sweetheart and their son. 1995 Jenny Kehl has been named director of the Center for Water Policy and endowed chair of the School of Freshwater Sciences at the University of Wisconsin– Milwaukee, where she is a tenured professor. 1997 When Curtis Stauffer started his new job at the Louisville, Ky., Metro Department of Community Services and Revitalization last March, he was surprised to find fellow alumnus Andy Bates ’91 in the next office. 1999 Josh Collins planned and oversaw the grand opening festivities of the newly renovated Union Depot in St. Paul last December. He is now director of communications and media relations with the Minnesota Department of Education. Josh and Holly Moe- Collins ’98 live in New Brighton, Minn., with their three children.
