Preface<br />
The thesis is a part of the double-degree Erasmus Mundus Mater <strong>in</strong> Security <strong>and</strong><br />
Mobile Comput<strong>in</strong>g (NordSecMob), which consisted of study at the Royal Institute<br />
of Technology (KTH) <strong>and</strong> the Technical University of Denmark (DTU). This thesis<br />
was done at the department of Informatics <strong>and</strong> Mathematical Modell<strong>in</strong>g (IMM) at<br />
DTU, under the ma<strong>in</strong> supervision of Associate Professor Michael R. Hansen from<br />
DTU <strong>and</strong> the co-supervision of Professor Mads Dam from KTH.<br />
The thesis deals with various problems of <strong>Presburger</strong> <strong>Arithmetic</strong> rang<strong>in</strong>g from<br />
simplification to decision procedures. The reader is expected to be familiar with<br />
F#, .NET framework <strong>and</strong> parallel programm<strong>in</strong>g. No prior knowledge of functional<br />
programm<strong>in</strong>g is needed, although it helps to underst<strong>and</strong> the idea of multicore parallelism<br />
<strong>in</strong> connection with the functional paradigm.<br />
This thesis was written dur<strong>in</strong>g the period from January 2011 to June 2011.<br />
