1. Eschenbach also has a CD with customizable office forms, a video 

instruction on Low Vision for the O.D., a patient video and also patient

2. VoicePrint Canada 

• VoicePrint Canada, the primary service of the National Broadcast Reading 

Service (NBRS), was launched in 1990. It is Canada’s only NON-PROFIT, 24- 

hour news and information audio service offering timely national news material; 

licensed by the CRTC. 

• The service provides information to more than 3.5-million blind, low-vision and 

print restricted Canadians and their families across Canada. 

• It is distributed from Toronto via satellite services (Bell ExpressVu and Star 

Choice) and on an audio channel provided by CBC Newsworld. 

• Programming consists of timely news stories published by daily newspapers, 

magazines and periodicals and read by 600 active volunteers across Canada. 

The 9-hour program schedule is rebroadcast to fill the 24-hour day. 

• Readings are recorded at Toronto, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Calgary, Vancouver, 

Kingston, Niagara Falls, Halifax, Edmonton and Victoria. 

• The overall technical production and office administration is housed at Toronto 

and half its staff are blind or have other disabilities. 

• In its first decade of business, VoicePrint Canada broadcast more hours of 

news and information programming than all of Canada’s television stations 

combined, excluding CBC Newsworld. 

• In September 2004, VoicePrint Canada launched its Local Broadcast Centre 

initiative to provide local news and information in 100 communities across 

Canada over a seven year period.

LIAISON WITH CNIB 

1. Rehabilitation services can be provided by CNIB free of charge to your 

patients. The CNIB Service Centres are located at 6136 Almon Street,

Services include instruction in the proper use of low vision aids and

Clients may be referred by you directly, by family, or an outside agency 

(nursing home, DVA) or by self-referral.
