HPPR varied significantly (5x) for surf zone samples with the same absorbance coefficients. To normalize production rates for samples with different absorption coefficients (and hence CDOM levels), apparent quantum yields calculated for H 2 O 2 photochemical production Quantum yield would ideally be given by # molecules H 2 O 2 produced/# photons absorbed. However, since H 2 O 2 is the product of secondary reactions and CDOM is not well characterized, a true quantum yield cannot be calculated.
