‘Optometry the Big Picture’
The Old Woolstore Apartment Hotel, 14-16 August 2009
Invitation from the President – Tim Powell
I would like to extend a special invitation to you and your colleagues to join us for some TLC (Tasmania’s Lifestyle Congress V) in Hobart
in August this year. We are building on the success of this intimate and accessible congress format and have an exciting list of speakers
to provide you with first rate continuing education. These include emerging international speaker Prof Joseph Sowka, the well known and
well regarded Prof Jan Lovie-Kitchin, optometrist Gary Page and ophthalmologist Dr Nitin Verma . TLC V will also see the continuation of
the immensely popular Hypotheticals - a relaxed and entertaining evening that allows registrants to access the panel’s expertise in novel
situations based on real life optometric cases.
This year we are focusing on ‘Optometry – The Big Picture’ with lectures that provide useful and usable take-home messages.
‘Optometry – The Big Picture’ will take a whole of profession look at the challenges of modern day practice, the frontiers of the future and
our increasing role in the health arena. TLC is all about quality education, meaningful interaction with the presenters and excellent
entertainment. A highlight is the CooperVision Congress Dinner which this year will be held at the Grand Chancellor’s Harbour View
restaurant and will showcase Tasmania’s finest food and wine.
In addition to our regular TLC program this year, we have decided to include a specific Low Vision Congress component on the Saturday morning. This is open to all registrants and
will provide novices and experts in the field with some pearls of practice in this challenging area. It is the only congress of its kind in Australia and we are proud to offer this extension
to our annual TLC in 2009.
This year’s congress will offer 34 CPD points as well as providing a great social event and the opportunity to delight in Tasmania’s world class scenery and lifestyle.
