Adopt A School – Phase 1 Renovation<br />

The Adopt – A- School<br />

project was formally<br />

initiated in April, 2007 in<br />

partnership with the Ministry of<br />

Education as an avenue for<br />

<strong>Oando</strong> to support the growth of<br />

primary education in<br />

communities where it operates.<br />

The project aims at supporting<br />

the development of selected<br />

government schools for an<br />

agreed period of time through<br />

the renovation of facilities,<br />

provision of teaching aids and<br />

books.<br />

In 2007, during the pilot phase<br />

of the project, <strong>Oando</strong> adopted 3<br />

Government Primary schools.<br />

The adopted schools are:<br />

1. Metropolitan Primary<br />

School, Orile-Iganmu,<br />

Lagos<br />

2. Government Primary<br />

School, Ekorinim, Calabar,<br />

Cross River State<br />

3. Daura Primary School,<br />

Daura, Katsina<br />

During the 1 st quarter of 2008 the<br />

1 st phase of the renovation<br />

activities for the 3 schools where<br />

completed. This focused on the<br />

repair of dilapidated roofs,<br />

repainting and screening of the<br />

classroom walls, repair or<br />

erection of toilets amongst<br />

others.<br />

The final phase of renovation is<br />

scheduled to commence and be<br />

completed in the 2 nd quarter of<br />

the year.<br />
