NEW
Individual: Lunaled Creative Set
The possibilities for staging water are virtually
inexhaustible. For example, creative
individualists can do this with a combination of
water and planter boxes. Whether in the classic
terracotta pot or in the puristic fibreglass planter
box, such water features underline the individual
note of terrace, garden and apartment. With the
Lunaled Creative Set planter boxes are easily
enhanced to become designer fountains that
are harmoniously integrated in the environment.
You can supplement the small water features with
the right kind of pebbles or decorative elements
for garden style and ambiance, and thus create
your own designer object. The connection-ready
set has a particular highlight in store at the onset
of twilight:
At twilight an LED ring ensures discrete but
atmospheric illumination.
With the Lunaled Creative Set
your own favourite objects can be designed
for inside and outside.
decorative planter box, some pebbles and
a pair of scissors.
First cut the cover to fit your planter box. Then
you can easily insert the »Lunaled Creative Set«
into the decorative planter box...
...now just decorate with pebbles,
High above: Fountain pumps
Especially high – this is the motto for the
fountain pumps. A feature that differentiates
them from filter and watercourse pumps. From
the smallest indoor fountain to the fountain in
the palace garden, all fountain pumps share this
feature. The remote control models with which
power and fountain height can be controlled at
distances of up to 80 metres are special attractions.
Thus you can reduce the brisk splashing, if for
example in deference to the tranquility of the
evening. We have summarised the most important
information for you in an easy to understand table
on pages 22/23. You can find the right pump for
your favourite fountain at glance.
Fountain attachments are responsible,
for the appearance of the water effect. From OASE
there are Schaumsprudler, bells, and different types
of fountains with multiple jets and stages.
An overview is provided on page 15.
Fountains & Fountain pumps
Indoor fountains
Atmospheric splashing
of decorative fountains and indoor
fountains has a calming and relaxing
effect. For smaller planter boxes you
need a compact but powerful pump.
Bubbling stones
Natural and charming these are the
effects of bubbling stones. Moss and lichens
can grow on rough stone, which enhances
the natural appearance. Here you also
require a compact but powerful pump.
Fountains
Imposing and richly varied are
fountains with one or more water jets. For
greater heights and forceful spouting you
require pumps with greater power.
Neptun
Long service life,
convenient
and energy
efficient:
Neptun pumps
are optimal for longterm
implementation. The water volume can
be adjusted individually. Starting with Neptun
Eco 3000 the pumps have a stainless steel
basket and are fully capable of withstanding
winter conditions.
More information on fountain
attachments is provided on page 15.
Nautilus Convenient
maintenance,convenient operation,
and integrated thermal
protection are just a few of
the characteristics of the
Nautilus pumps. These pumps
are available as a set with
a nozzle pattern, and they
are also available
in a solar-powered
version (more in this
regard on pages
22/23).
Aquarius The Aquarius pumps are easy to
operate, and they can be quickly installed. The
fountain can be individually adjusted with
telescopic nozzle extension and pivot head.
They are available as a set including three
nozzle patterns.
Profinaut The top product
with three power variants
also satisfies rigorous requirements
for larger fountains.
Water columns up to eleven
metres in height are possible.
The pumps are fully capable
of withstanding winter
conditions.
13

Movement is good for everyone: Fountains
Fine glittering jets that appear to dance above
the water surface are a beautiful enhancement
for pond or pool, and not just for visual
reasons. Water must always be in motion so
that sufficient oxygen gets into the pond and
the biological balance remains intact. The selfcleaning
processes that maintain water quality
only function if there is movement. Fish and
small life forms find the optimal conditions for
a healthy life. However a fountain should only
ascend to a height that does not prevent the
water from landing back in the pond. You want
to be able to use the garden area all around the
pond even if there is a stronger wind. Manually
adjustable or electronically adjustable fountain
pumps are practical and very convenient.
Animal waterspouts are
cute and useful.
»Water moves me.«
Pump technology – without complication
The result must be right. Consequently
the quality of water
in the garden pond is the determining
factor for a satisfying
life in and around the pond.
Water is the element of life. But only in the
right combination with oxygen does it give
man his health, and animals and plants a habitat.
Consequently watercourses are an effective enhancement
of your garden pond, but not for visual
reasons alone; while the water flows it is being
enriched with vital oxygen. The interplay of filter
pump and filter is indispensable for good water
quality. The experts at OASE are always thinking
16

Filter & Watercourse pumps
about new innovations so that pond owners can
take their time and enjoy life. One result is a range
of real powerpacks that can do more than just pump
water. There are intelligent models that feed
the right volume of water to the filter based on
temperature, and thus enable intelligent and low
power consumption pond management. For some
models the power can be variably adjusted, also
via remote control. With so many innovations
selection of the right pump is incredibly easy.
Characteristic of all filter and watercourse pumps
are the facts that they deliver particularly high
volumes of water in a short time, and deliver
coarse debris to ten millimetres in size to the
filter, and that they do it with particular energy
efficiency. Once you have decided on a pump
type, the necessary capacity can be determined
via the size of the pond or the watercourse.
17

The FiltoMatic CWS is the optimal extension for the
fi lter pump. The interaction of these two components prevents water
pollution due to excess nutrients, silt, and suspended algae.
Strong: Filter and watercourse pumps
The requirements that must be satisfied by
a filter and watercourse pump are quickly
explained. It must be designed in such a manner
that it can pump a particularly high volume of
water, and the contaminants introduced into the
pond through leaves, floating plants or animals, to
the filter. However, one misunderstanding is that
filter and watercourse pumps clean water. To clean
water a filter is necessary that is adapted to the
water volume of the pond. Selection of a sufficiently
powerful combination is the key factor for the subsequent
quality of water. With the table on page
22/23 you can select the right pump for your pond
in a few steps. The suitably dimensioned filter is
listed on page 40/41. The OASE specialists would
also be pleased to help you with the selection of the
pumps that supply your watercourse with the ideal
water flow rate.
Filter- & watercourse pumps
Totally practical
Aquamax These reliable pumps are the ideal partners for entry into
the garden pond theme. They supply watercourses and waterfalls
and deliver pond water that needs to
be cleaned into the filter. Thanks
to the energy-efficient OASE
motor the large ECO 3500-
8500 models offer energy
savings of up to 25%.
Filter & Watercourse pumps
For special cases
Aquamax Dry This particularly powerful filter- and
watercourse pump has been
developed especially for dry
installation. It is installed
below the water level
and is extremely quiet
in operation.
Twice the benefits
Aquamax Eco CWS This energy-efficient and powerful filter pump
effortlessly transports coarse debris even up to 10 mm in size. It is frostproof
and equipped with a second inlet. This is particularly practical, if
for example a surface skimmer will be connected. In this case the pump
can feed the filter system with water from two different regions of the
pond. This ensures a significant
optimisation of filter capacity.
Tip!
The selection table for these pumps
is provided on page 22/23.
Easy, if you know how: The combination of fi lter, pump and UVC clarifi er that is suitable for
your garden
pond or watercourse essentially depends on the size and water volume. Use the table on page
40/41 to determine the suitable products, step by step. Naturally your OASE stockist would also be pleased
to help you with the selection.
19

»Had I only known that it is so easy to find the
right products, I would have started to build my
pond much earlier.«
In order to calculate the water volume, it is
important to know the planned size, perimeter,
and depth of the pond upfront. Then the path is
short to the dream garden with clear water enjoyment.
In this regard OASE places a high priority
on offering complete solutions. And as a water
enthusiast you can be sure that the right product
for your creative idea is guaranteed to be in the
OASE product range.
OASE makes it easy: With the simple selection tables
in the catalogue and on the product packaging, it is easy for
you and your dealer to choose the right product for your individual
requirements. To guarantee clear water, always take
into consideration the fi sh stocks and sunlight levels as well
as the pond volume.
Filter systems for clear water
A pond is a complex ecosystem.
And where animals and plants find an
optimal habitat, garden owners can
confidently lean back and enjoy.
Observing the life in the pond is a wonderful
pastime, however it is only possible if the
water is clear. How you can achieve clear water
in your own pond is only a question of technology
– and its proper application. This is no problem
with the Clear Water System from OASE.
Different components matched together in such
a manner that with recommended use they ensure
clear water to a depth of at least one metre. This is
even so certain that OASE gives you a Clear Water
Guarantee. The Clear Water system offers more
than conventional foam filters that only retain
24

Filters
garden pond.«
coarse particles, but do not convey them out of
the water. To do this you need a special filter
such as the FiltoMatic CWS. Thus you not only
avoid water contamination through animals, or
leaves that have fallen into the pond, but you
also prevent algae from spreading; algae thrives
optimally through nutrient input and under some
circumstances multiply to an undesirable extent.
High-performance bacteria, such as the bacteria
contained in the BioKick CWS Filter Starter,
decompose the unnecessary nutrients and clean
the water.
Tip!
Patience Most filters consist of foams, on which microorganisms
settle. These bacteria feed on minute particles that we perceive
as debris – a new or recently cleaned filter cannot completely
function at its capacity. Give it a few days to start up and also
ensure there is adequate oxygen.
25

All clear: Clear Water System
All-season biologically clear water without
having to do much – previously this was
wishful thinking for many pond owners, now with
the new Clear Water System this can be easily
achieved. The system consists of up to six different
matched components that as a set become the
manager of the pond. Perfectly matched as a set
that fulfills all the tasks associated with intelligent
pond cleaning. Thus the pond filter detects the
temperature and can vary its capacity as needed,
and if necessary switch on the integrated UVC
clarifier. The result is not only optimally cleaned
water, the result is also energy savings of up to
20 %. So that you can enjoy clear water with as
little disturbance as possible, the new Filtomatic
CWS pond filter automatically frees itself of silt
deposits. This leaves more time for enjoyment and
a clear view of the life in the pond.
3
1. Filter pump Aquamax Eco CWS
The heart of the Clear Water Systems works reliably at
a high level of energy efficiency. Even debris particles to
10 mm in size are pumped from the pond floor into the
filter – the first step toward clear water.
2. Filter FiltoMatic CWS
The nutrients and pollutants bound in the silt are removed
from the water by the filter system in biological-mechanical
processes. The system monitors the water temperature and
activates the silt pump and the UVC device as needed. The
filter module is available in three different sizes.
3. Filter Starter Biokick CWS
The filter starter contains microorganisms and bacteria
nutrients. These ensure rapid settlement of the filter foams
with the microorganisms that decompose contaminants.
High-performance bacteria decompose the nutrients and
detoxify the water.
4. Skimmer SwimSkim CWS
Also contaminants such as leaves and nutrients that enter the pond
through the surface, reduce the water quality. The skimmer removes
these contaminants before they sink, and also supplies the pond with
vital oxygen. Sediment on the pond floor is stirred up and thus suctioned
into the filter.
5. Pond aerator OxyTex CWS
Oxygen is important for maintaining good water quality, as it keeps the
microorganisms alive. The OxyTex aerates the water, recirculates it, and
thanks to its plant-like design, offers an extensive settlement surface for
microorganisms that decompose the nutrients. The pond aerator can
increase the effect of the filter by as much as 25 percent.
6. Rock cover FiltoMatic Cap CWS
The decorative cover with a natural-sand surface protects the FiltoMatic CWS
buried in the ground. The cover in rock decor is weather-resistant, and
thanks to its near-natural design is integrated inconspicuously in the
garden world. Thus the technology in garden installations and pond
landscapes becomes virtually invisible.
Well-matched filter pump, filter system, filter starter, skimmer, and pond aerator ensure biological balance.
27

Underwater filter: a compact solution
For owners of smaller ponds up to 5000 litres,
a compact filter system is ideal, not only to
keep the water clear and healthy, but also to avoid
unnecessary technology on the side of the pond
that could detract from the natural look of the
water garden. The Filtral underwater filters contain
an integrated pump and UVC, along with
various filter mediums, that together work to
maintain the excellent water quality and clarity
that you desire, and that the pond inhabitants
require. Everything is contained in a single
compact unit, conveniently placed inside the
pond, therefore the area around the pond remains
intact and undisturbed.
Tip!
The selection table for the filters
is provided on page 40/41.
Easy if you know how: It is even possible to route the single power cable from the Filtral directly through the
wall of the pond, avoiding unsightly cables trailing over the edge of the pond. Tradux provides a watertight
cable or hose transition, specially designed for this purpose.
29

The BioPress Pressure Filter sets
provide a complete pump, fi lter and UVC
solution for ponds of up to 10,000 litres.
Pressure filters: Invisible helpers
As opposed to flow-through filters, pressure filters
route the pump pressure through the filter.
They can also be used below the surface level
of the water. Consequently they are used classically
for higher positioned watercourses; they can
be partially buried in the ground adjacent to the
watercourse where they do not disturb the natural
garden look. This makes the closed system of the
filter possible, which is ensured by the quickrelease
closure. Ideally inflow hose and outflow
hose are routed through the pond liner with the
Tradux system (page 67). The cleaning processes
function in accordance with the same principle as
that of the flow-through filter and consequently
also offer, (with correctly matched pond and filter
size), a good basis for optimally filtered water.
Flow-through filters: Best prospects
The key is in the name: A flow-through filter
is fed by the pump in the water. The filter
is the highest point in this cleaning cycle; from
this point the water then flows back into the pond.
Foams in the interior perform the actual cleaning
of the water; after a few days these foams also
become the home for the hard working microorganisms.
The advantage of flow-through filters:
They are easy to reach, they are above ground,
thus cleaning and maintenance are quickly accomplished.
There are many innovative products
in the OASE product range. Systems with selfcleaning
function, such as the FiltoMatic or the
Screenmatic prefilter spare you endless hours of
pond cleaning. Thus there is more opportunity
to enjoy your leisure time and relax at the edge
of the pond.
32

Filters
Flow-through filters are installed for medium-sized to large ponds or koi ponds. They stand above the water surface at the edge of the pond
or above a watercourse so that the water flows back into the pond via gravity.
Variable implementation is offered by the Proficlear modular filter system. It functions in accordance with the
gravitation principle, which is particularly energy-efficient, or as a pump-fed system.
Module filters: Where one matches the other
An intelligent solution, particularly for young
ponds with fish stock, is offered by module
filters. This filter system can be extended as desired
– regardless of how large the pond is and whether
koi or goldfish are at home in it, or whether
it is a natural pond or a swim pond (page 68/69).
If the water starts to become increasingly contaminated
due to heavy stress, simply increase the
filter capacity with an additional component. OASE
offers a total of five different modules that are set
up out of the water. Each of these modules handles
a task, such as extraction of coarse debris. Through
the use of the gravitation principle module filters
work with particular energy-efficiency. Your OASE
specialist will be pleased to offer you competent
support in selecting the right components.
UVC clarifiers: It‘s clear!
Clear and healthy water ensures undisturbed
pond enjoyment. But what happens when
suspended algae or other sources of turbidity turn
the water green and thus lessen the enjoyment
of the garden pond? Even in this case there is a
remedy. Simply place the UVC clarifier in the
water circuit; ideally upstream from the filter.
The special light radiation in the interior of the
clarifier kills off the algae and bacteria and germs
are eliminated. For the connection merely a
power outlet is required. Pond type and water
volume determine the capacity your UVC device
should have. And while professional technology
is at work, pond owners do not really have much
to do: The quick-release closure allows easy
cleaning, the housing is extremely robust, and
thanks to extensive accessories, installation is
more than simple.
became clear, quick as lightning.«
Skimmers and aerators
The change of seasons around the pond is one
of the nicest experiences in the garden. However
if pollen is on the surface of the pond in spring
or falling leaves foul the pond in autumn then help
is required. These plant remnants make the pond
surface turbid and the nutrients input into the pond
in this manner allow algae to grow rapidly.
Skimmers keep the water clean by removing such
contaminants before they sink to the bottom of
the pond. To obtain the best cleaning results we
also recommend supplying the water with oxygen.
The OxyTex CWS offers a unique combination of
pond aeration, circulation, and settlement surface
for microorganisms that keep the water healthy.
OxyTex CWS
With its plant-like appearance the pond aerator is seamlessly integrated in
the water landscape. Filter capacity is increased by as much as 25 percent.
It is also available with an aerator pump in a set.
(page 19) and powerfully pulls
debris particles into a collection
basket that can be easily removed
for cleaning.
Tip!
Especially on warm days it makes sense to supply the pond water with oxygen from the aerator. The
principle: The warmer the water, the lower the oxygen content. Fish and other animals only remain
vital, and the microorganisms in the filter can only effectively clean the water, in well-aerated water.
»My pond deserves this.«
Cleaning and care
Whoever views his pond as a habitat for
animals and plants knows that it is a coordinated
team made up of life and technology. And
just as we human beings treat ourselves to wellness
and care, refreshing treatment will also do
any body of water good. Every pond runs through
a development cycle. Plants and fish grow. Over
the course of the year it experiences a hot summer
and closed ice cover in winter. To keep the pond
healthy through the changing seasons and life
cycles, it is important to have clear information
about water quality. You can easily check the water
quality yourself and regulate it if something gets
out of balance. Thus, you always stay a step ahead
of murky water. For this you must briefly dip the
Aqua Activ Quickstick into the water, then you
42

Cleaning & Care
can quickly and easily determine the pH value,
the total hardness, carbonate hardness, as well as
nitrite and nitrate content. To care for the pond
eco system, the OASE Aqua Activ range offers
everything that you need for sustainably healthy
water. For example Silt Remover contributes to
gentle water cleaning and helps prevent silt-up
and long-term turbidity.
Tip!
Healthy pond: Whoever wants to know how the water quality
in his pond is doing will fi nd the OASE test sets at specialised
stockists. You can have your water sample tested on site by OASE
Aqua Activ partners. The results and a written treatment recommendation
will then be sent to you.
43

It‘s clear: Pond care product range
Fresh air is a vital commodity that cities in
particular know how to value. Oxygen however
is not just in demand above the water surface.
It also fulfills important tasks in the water. Fish
require oxygen to breath and microorganisms require
oxygen to clean the water. Consequently,
it is particularly important to always supply the
pond with oxygen. Dead plants and fish waste
are deposited on the floor as pond silt and bind
oxygen. In winter a closed ice cover prevents the
exchange with the surrounding air. To keep your
pond in top condition throughout the year we recommend
vacuuming out the floor silt as needed.
The Pondovac 4 is ideal in this regard.
Useful helpers Work in the pond without even getting
your feet wet – pond waders made of robust plastic make
it possible.
Pond care products Aqua Activ
Often even the best pond needs a little support.
Significant temperature fluctuations,
particularly in spring can affect a pond temporarily.
Falling leaves in autumn and the remains of
dead plants offer algae an ideal nutrient basis.
Also a filter requires fresh microorganisms on
a regular basis. How nice it is in these cases to
have an effective helper at your side.
A range of care products, designed to meet the
needs of the pond, is ideally suited to correct
minor cosmetic faults. In this regard care agents
like Silt Remover, correctly applied, are completely
harmless for pond inhabitants. If you have
questions simply contact your OASE stockist.
Here you will learn tips and tricks for all aspects
of pond health and care.
»My pond – my bright spot
Illumination in and around the pond
When the sun slowly goes down in the evening
for many people the really beautiful time in
the garden is just beginning. This is the time to get
together for a friendly barbecue or for romantic hours
as a couple. It would really be unfortunate to forego
the beauty of the garden and pond at such a time.
Those who want to breathe life into the dark part of
the day have many innovative possibilities at their
disposal thanks to OASE. Garden designers know
that trees and bushes can be skillfully staged
with effective placement of spotlights. In the same
manner the water world can also become a luminous
centre point. The pond becomes a glittering sea;
movements on the water surface ensure unique play
of light. Such effects can be achieved with different
types of spotlights: All are suited for underwater
implementation and illuminate water features and
fountains, which then become sparkling garden
highlights. Creatively combined, there are infinite
lighting possibilities.
50

Illumination & Power
in the daily grind.«
Tip!
Tips for using light in the garden Light can perform four essential tasks in the garden: It serves as basic
illumination for orientation in the garden and on the walkways. As space lighting it ensures local brightness for the
areas where you would like to barbecue or read. With mood lighting you stage individual areas of the garden. Spotlights
emphasise characteristics; for example they illuminate trees or statues.
51

Radiant: Pond lighting sets
When the colours of trees and plants fade into
the background in the evening, it is the play
of light and shadow that enchants. OASE provides
garden owners with a variety of possibilities to design
the multi-faceted richness in the residential
garden. Special effects are produced when shrubs
or grasses interrupt the light beam and thus ensure
exciting contours. Skillfully illuminated statues
and ornaments have a mystic effect on the viewer
and lend the garden a totally unique charm. Bubbling
stone fountains, for example, can be easily
transformed into highlights through the LED ring
of the Lunaled S range. And watercourses are illuminated
in an entirely new light with the aid of
our Luminis 3. Have your OASE stockist tell you
more about the versatile possibilities.
Illuminating: Lunaqua 10 LED
The fascination of the underwater world
pleases each day anew – and thanks to the
Lunaqua 10 range it also pleases after the sun
goes down. Installation is incredibly easy: The
modular plug-and-socket system is easy to install,
and it is extremely safe in application: The UST
150 underwater transformer is ideally suited for
permanent underwater operation. You can connect
halogen spotlights or the LED version of the
Lunaqua 10 to this transformer. This means that
you can also observe the life in the pond after the
sun goes down. At night the play of shadows of
water plants or water lilies is particularly interesting
and ensures exciting effects. With the OASE
Lunaqua 10 range the underwater lighting is easy
to network and extend for larger scenes. It is best
to wait until twilight to place the light fixtures.
This gives you an opportunity to check the effect
of the light fixture on site, and you will not have
to make a second adjustment.
Convenient: Power outlets & covers
Do you remember the old days when you had
to change channels on the TV by hand? Fortunately
remote control units perform this task for
us today. This convenience is also possible in the
garden. Virtually any electrical device can be switched
on or off via remote control and if is electronically
adjustable, it can be dimmed. With the OASE
InScenio power outlets the possibility of connecting
up to four devices simultaneously and controlling
them via remote control is available. The sandcoloured
decorative cover also ensures functionality
despite rain and moisture. Under the rock cover
made of robust plastic that is also available the power
outlet is integrated harmoniously in the garden.
reduce the filter capacity, or permanently
reduce filter capacity.
The Solarsafe module stores the power obtained from
sunshine. Thus the devices can also be operated during day
and night hours.
New energy: Solar components
Whoever feels an affinity with nature ensures
that the relationship is sustainable and
environmentally responsible. This is why OASE
developed a solar-powered system that enables the
pond enthusiast to stage his water garden in a
manner that saves energy. The heart of the system
is a solar module that converts solar energy
into useable power. A storage module ensures
current flow even if the sky is overcast. The specially
developed Nautilus Solar pump (including
3 nozzle patterns) as well as the Lunaqua Solar
light can accommodate the naturally obtained
power. The plug-and-socket-connections enable
uncomplicated installation.
Pond construction
1. Installation
location, contour and depth
You should consider the following questions
beforehand:
• What type of pond would I like: A fish pond
or a pond without animal inhabitants?
living space for koi or a swim pond?
or a water pool as garden decoration?
• What size, location, and shape is suitable?
• Do I want to integrate a watercourse or a bubbling stone?
Decoration & Pond construction
Rules of thumb:
• A maximum of four to six hours of sun are optimal
for water quality.
• The nearer the pond is to terrace or seating group, the better
you can observe the inhabitants of the pond.
2. Technology
Pump, Filter and more
• Pond size and nutrient input through fish determine
the combination and models that are suitable for
your project.
• Your OASE stockist will be pleased to help you in
selecting the suitable products.
3. Appearance
Decoration and plants
Fountains, lighting, and plants give the pond its individual
face. Tip: Often it helps to first allow the newly installed
pond to act on you, so that you have a clearer idea of the
desired equipment. Fountains and lighting can easily be
implemented at any subsequent point in time.
Calculation aid: How much liner do I need for my pond? There are two formulas that help:
• Length + 2 x depth at the deepest point of the excavation + 2 x 50 cm = length of the liner
• Width + 2 x depth at the deepest point of the excavation + 2 x 50 cm = width of the liner
Use a measuring tape to measure your pond for the precise values!
Questions & Answers
Questions & answers
My pond is full of string algae – what can I do?
String algae are a particularity; as opposed to suspended
algae, which contributes to turbidity, string algae are
always an indicator of good water quality in your garden
pond.
String algae grow when the oxygen content in the water
is right. Consequently they are also found in watercourses
since oxygen input is particularly high in watercourses due
to water movement. String algae should be removed regularly
e.g. with the OASE Pondovac, which offers a special
string algae nozzle. Our Aqua Activ String Algae Control
biologically eliminates string algae and lets them die off.
Because string algae occurs at high phosphate content,
Phosless filter media tubes (that must be changed approximately
every six to eight weeks) help reduce string algae
over the long term.
My pond water is green – what can I do?
Suspended algae grow if there is strong sunlight exposure
and excess nutrients (e.g. through fish food, plant remains)
and make the water turbid. A UVC clarifier destroys
suspended algae which then flocculates and is removed
through the mechanical/biological cleaning process in the
filter. If suspended algae occur in spite of a filter system
with established micro organisms check whether the UVC
bulb needs to be replaced (this is necessary approximately
once a year).
There is silt on the pond fl oor – what can I do?
Silt can accumulate on the pond floor even when using
a filter system with established microorganisms that has
been effective for some time. In this case it helps to occasionally
vacuum up the silt, and it helps to add OASE Aqua
Activ Silt Remover to the pond.
You can see the hose, where it goes over the edge
of the pond – what can I do?
OASE Tradux wall and liner transition makes it possible to
route hoses and cable directly through the pond liner into
the soil for concealed underground installation. And it is
absolutely safe! It is easiest to integrate the transitions
when constructing the pond.
Which hose diameter should I select?
The following always applies: The greater the diameter of
the hose, the better – at the very least you should select
a hose diameter of 1.5 inches to avoid unnecessary pressure
loss and the associated higher power costs for operating the
pump. Always ensure that you cut the stepped hose adapter
off at the appropriate diameter.
How do I calculate my pond volume?
Calculate length x width x average depth in m. Example:
3 m x 4 m x 0.75 m = 9 m 3 = 9000 l
Does my fi lter system need to be operated constantly?
To work efficiently the filter system should be operated
24 hours a day – also to prevent the valuable microorganisms
that settle on the filter foams from dying off due to
insufficient oxygen supply. After installation of the filter
system it can take several weeks for these microorganisms
to form, and for the pond to become clear. You can intervene
in a supportive manner by adding Biokick CWS filter
starter to the pond.
How do I care for my pond technology in winter?
Microorganisms that are effective in biological cleaning
processes are active at temperatures greater than 10 °C.
Consequently, water should flow through the filter 24 hours
a day during this period. If the temperature drops below
10 °C, this is no longer necessary, and the filter can remain
where it is installed, it is frost-proof. We recommend using
Biokick CWS each spring to accelerate generation of microorganisms.
Pumps that are not frost-proof should be
cleaned and stored in a container filled with water. The
OASE Aquamax Eco CWS pumps can remain in the pond
over winter; they are absolutely frost-proof.
What is the ideal number of fi sh for my size
of pond? How much should I feed them?
Fish are an attraction for every pond. However, bear in
mind that each fish stresses pond water through excretion
and excess fish food – the greater the nutrient input, the
better the conditions for algae and pathogens to flourish.
We recommend a maximum of 1 kg fish stock per 1,000 l
pond volume. Ideally you should feed your fish several times
a day in extremely small quantities and only as much as the
fish consume in a maximum of 2–3 minutes. Each feeding
means nutrient input and thus provides a basis for algae
growth.
How much liner do I need to build a pond?
The following formulas help with the calculation:
Length + 2 x depth at the deepest point of the excavation
+ 2 x 50 cm = length of the liner
Width + 2 x depth at the deepest point of the excavation
+ 2 x 50 cm = width of the liner
Use a measuring tape to measure your pond for the precise
values! Small ponds up to 4 m 3 require a depth of at least
60–80 cm, medium-size ponds greater than 5–8 m 3 require
a depth of 80–100 cm.
OASE Clear Water Guarantee
A pond is only attractive if it has really
clear water. But fish, plants and other pond
inhabitants also profit from biologically
cleaned water worlds.
Worth knowing
Definition of the Clear Water Guarantee OASE guarantees clear water in
the pond to all
purchasers of an OASE filter system, in accordance with the selection table*, proper set up and maintenance of
the system, as specified in the setup instructions, and after registration.
What does clear water mean? Fish, plants, or rocks on the pond floor are recognisable to a pond
depth of 1 m below the pond surface.
Definition of pond The Clear Water Guarantee is granted exclusively for ponds in the conventional
sense of the term. A pond is an artificially created body of water made of liner or in a pond shell with minimum
planting of one third of the water surface and is exposed to sunlight for 4–6 hours a day. The location of the
pond is at least 4 m away from deciduous trees and/or conifers. All other bodies of water, particularly architectural
bodies of water without adequate planting are excluded from the Clear Water Guarantee.
Correct operation of the filter system OASE filters work mechanically and biologically,
consequently 24-hour continuous operation of filter system and pump is necessary. It can take up to six weeks
for a pond to clear, depending on the condition of the pond. For the first use and every new use in the spring the
application of OASE Biokick CWS Filter Starter bacteria is prerequisite.
Registration Registration must be executed within 3 months from the date of purchase on the Internet at
www.oase-livingwater.com/uk-guarantee or by sending the completed registration card provided with the filter
system with a copy of the purchase receipt to OASE.
Validity The prerequisite for the Clear Water Guarantee is the purchase of an OASE filter system in accordance
with the selection table*, proper setup as well as maintenance of the system in accordance with the setup/
use instructions, and appropriate registration. The Clear Water Guarantee is valid for the period of operational
use of the OASE filter system in accordance with the provisions specified in our operating instructions, which
is a maximum of 3 years from the purchase date. This guarantee is void if the installation instructions in the
operating manual are not complied with, and/or if the wrong system was selected, and/or if the system is not
handled properly. The guarantee is invalidated if there is concurrent use of products for filtration or the use of
pond care products from other manufacturers, particularly the use of pond care products that contain copper.
Processing if there is a guarantee claim If there is a guarantee claim contact your stockist
directly, or alternatively contact the OASE Hotline +44 (0) 1264 333225. If a guarantee claim is submitted OASE
has the right to check the filter system two times and to undertake appropriate rectification measures. If after
this has been done the water is not clear as defined in the guarantee the purchase price will by refunded when
the filter system is returned to OASE. More extensive claims arising from the Clear Water Guarantee do not exist.
The legal guarantee rights of the purchaser remain unaffected through the Clear Water Guarantee.
