4-H <strong>QUILT</strong> <strong>DAY</strong><br />

<strong>Youth</strong> <strong>Center</strong><br />

<strong>Sunday</strong>, <strong>July</strong> <strong>28</strong>, Noon to 5 p.m.<br />

GENERAL GUIDELINES<br />

• Age of Participants:<br />

• 4-H Age -<br />

Junior Division – 13 years of age and younger<br />

Senior Division – 14 years of age and older<br />

• Participation Guidelines:<br />

• Each county may have no more than one participant in each class. No exhibitor shall be<br />

entered in more than one class.<br />

• All participants must be enrolled in 4-H Project #499 You Can Quilt or Self-Determined<br />

#365.<br />

• Participants will register and set up their exhibit at the time indicated for their county.<br />

• Participants must remain with their quilt in the judging area until dismissed by their judge<br />

after their interview. Quilts will remain on display following the interview until after the<br />

awards ceremony at 4:30 p.m. Awards will be announced at 4:30 p.m. Quilts must be<br />

removed by 5:00 p.m.<br />

• Type of Evaluation:<br />

• Participants will participate in an interview evaluation with a judge. Participants will be<br />

judged based on their knowledge, skill, and understanding related to the quilting project<br />

(40%), the quality of their finished mini quilt (40%), the quality of their project records in<br />

documenting project accomplishments (10%), and their interview performance (10%).<br />

• Participant should bring with them to registration:<br />

• Registration information provided by County 4-H <strong>Youth</strong> Development Educator.<br />

• Completed project book and other project records documenting what they did in their 4-H<br />

quilt project.<br />

• Refer to additional project requirements as listed in class list below.<br />

CLASSES<br />

J-12 You Can Quilt, Junior<br />

Participants should bring ONE MINI <strong>QUILT</strong> (as per project requirements on page 3 of You Can<br />

Quilt project book).<br />

J-13 You Can Quilt, Senior<br />

Participants should bring ONE MINI <strong>QUILT</strong> (as per project requirements on page 3 of You Can<br />

Quilt project book).<br />

J-14 Self Determined Quilting<br />

Participants in this class are encouraged to bring their Self-Determined project manual (4-H 365)<br />

showing involvement in and progress made toward completing their Self-Determined project<br />

along with the quilt designed and constructed for their project.<br />

AWARDS<br />

1. All participants will receive a participation ribbon sponsored by The <strong>Ohio</strong> <strong>State</strong> Fair.<br />

2. “Outstanding of the Day” ribbons, sponsored by The <strong>Ohio</strong> <strong>State</strong> Fair, will be awarded to the top 20%<br />

of the class.<br />

3. A clock trophy will be awarded to the class winner.

Scioto, Summit, University District, Washington, Wyandot<br />

2:00 p.m. Allen, Auglaize, Carroll, Clinton Cuyahoga, Erie, Fulton, Guernsey, Harrison, Holmes,<br />

Knox, Logan, Mahoning, Mercer, Morgan, Ottawa, Pike, Richland, Seneca, Trumbull, Van<br />

Wert, Wayne, <strong>Youth</strong> Outdoors<br />
