ATTENTION ALL EXHIBITORS<br />

RULING FROM THE <strong>STATE</strong> FIRE MARSHALS<br />

Tents, canopies or tarps used over stalls must be 3 feet from the sprinkler system above the stalls in the Gilligan Building.<br />

All stall coverings must be non-combustible or of flame resistant material and must be labeled as such.<br />

Cooking appliances, heating appliances or any other unapproved open flame shall be prohibited inside the building.<br />

***NO SMOKING IS PERMITTED IN THE BUILDING! ***<br />

All stalls with canopies, tents or tarps must have a single station smoke detector and a portable fire extinguisher rated at<br />

least 2—A 10—B; C in each covered stall and/or covered aisle way.<br />

All extension cords used with fans or extra lighting MUST be Heavy Duty, Grounded, and UL approved.<br />

Any exhibitor who puts a top on their tack stall must have a working fire alarm and a working fire extinguisher in that stall.<br />

Any exhibitor NOT in compliance will be asked to remove their stall curtains and canopies.<br />

SUBJECT: EXHIBITION OF <strong>HORSE</strong>S<br />

Horses must meet the Ohio Department of Agriculture and State Fair Exhibition Requirements.<br />

901:1-18-08. Horses and Ponies<br />

Horses and Ponies moved within Ohio for exhibition:<br />

1. If not under quarantine and if they are free of any signs of a contagious or infectious disease; and<br />

2. If the animal is twelve months of age or older, the exhibition manager may require that the animal has been tested and classed<br />

negative to an official test for equine infection anemia within twelve months of the closing date of the exhibition.<br />

*NOTE: THE <strong>OHIO</strong> <strong>STATE</strong> <strong>FAIR</strong> MANAGEMENT WILL NOT REQUIRE <strong>OHIO</strong> <strong>HORSE</strong>S TO BE TESTED FOR EQUINE<br />

INFECTION ANEMIA<br />

A. Horses and Ponies Imported Into Ohio for exhibition:<br />

(A) Shall be accompanied by an official certificate of veterinary inspection issued within thirty days of the opening date of the<br />

exhibition ; and<br />

(B) If the animal is twelve months of age or older, it shall be accompanied by evidence the animal was negative to an official test for<br />

Equine Infection Anemia within six months of the opening date of the exhibition and<br />

(C) Upon request by an authorized representative of the Ohio Department of Agriculture, the person responsible for each animal must<br />

make available a chronological list of dates, places and events attended by this animal within thirty days prior to entry into Ohio.<br />

NOTE: ALL OUT OF <strong>STATE</strong> <strong>HORSE</strong>S IMPORTED INTO <strong>OHIO</strong> MUST HAVE A NEGATIVE EQUINE INFECTION<br />

ANEMIA (EIA) TEST WITHIN SIX MONTHS OF THE OPENING DATE OF THE EXHIBITION AND PRESENT THE<br />

ORIGINAL COGGINS PAPERS TO THE <strong>STATE</strong> VETERINARIANS UPON ARRIVAL.<br />

DEPARTURE OF <strong>HORSE</strong>S<br />

Exhibitors or their agents must obtain a release from the STALL OFFICE before removing horses from the show grounds.<br />

CAMPER SPACE<br />

There will be limited camper space for exhibitors north of 17th Avenue. Both partial hook-up and full hook-up are available<br />

on a first come first serve basis. Horses are not allowed north of 17 th Ave. Non compliance will result in animals being<br />

barred from further participation at this show. Electrical outlets will be available in camper space only. No tents allowed.<br />

Permits may be purchased at Gate Entrance to camper area. These fees are paid upon arrival $30 per night. DO NOT<br />

INCLUDE WITH ENTRY FEES!!!<br />

RULES GOVERNING REGISTRATION WILL BE STRICTLY FOLLOWED IN ALL BREEDS <strong>SHOW</strong>N.<br />

The following classes and/or divisions at this show are not conducted under the rules of USEF, but rather they are<br />

conducted under the rules of their respective breed associations. Some special conditions may be addressed. Please<br />

check individual pages.<br />

Draft Horse, Draft Ponies, Haflinger, Gypsy & Drum Horses<br />

MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES<br />

The State of Ohio, through the Ohio Expositions Commission, the Horse Show Committee, the General Manager and his<br />

employees, herein after referred to as the Management, will not be responsible for any damages to person, animal, or<br />

property at the show, or on the grounds, nor will be responsible for any property lost or destroyed. Each exhibitor shall<br />

indemnify and save the Management, harmless from all claims and demands of any kind or nature arising from such<br />

exhibitor, his employees, animals, or property exhibiting on or in the show grounds. Judges may not award prize to an<br />

unworthy exhibit. It is the intention of the Ohio State Fair Management that no recognition of any kind shall be given to any<br />

animal or article that is not deserving. This rule must be strictly adhered to whether or not there is competition.<br />

EXHIHITOR’S RESPONSIBILITIES<br />

(1) DISCIPLINE<br />

Exhibitors are warned that any act of discourtesy or disobedience to the officials on the part of the owner, groom or driver,<br />

will disqualify the horse. This applies in or out of the ring and while on the Fair Grounds. This includes ANY employee of<br />

the Horse Show Office, or any Ohio State Fair employee. <strong>HORSE</strong>S ARE NOT ALLOWED BEYOND THE GREEN WALL<br />

IN THE GILLIGAN BUILDING AT ANY TIME. THOSE VIOLATING THIS WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE THE GROUNDS.<br />

(2) ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES<br />

Public consumption of alcoholic beverages on the Ohio State Fair Grounds is prohibited.<br />

(3) POSTED SIGNS<br />

All posted signs or instructions, whatever they may be, will be strictly enforced. Any discourtesy to any Fair Official, State<br />

Highway Patrol or other officials wearing official badges will subject the exhibitors to the penalties listed below.<br />

(4)DISCOURTESY<br />

Any discourtesy to any Fair Official, State Highway Patrol or other officials wearing official badges will cause the person,<br />

their stable and their owners to forfeit any earnings won at the Ohio State Fair Horse Show. The entire stable may be<br />

asked to leave the grounds whether they are finished showing or not.<br />

(5)LIABILITY<br />

All owners and exhibitors will be held responsible for any damaged incurred by them or their agents to barns or other<br />

properties on the show grounds and will be billed accordingly. Failure to make payment will subject the exhibitor to the<br />

penalties listed below.<br />

(6)DOGS<br />

**Dogs will only be permitted on the grounds under the following conditions.<br />

Dogs MUST be on a leash or confined in a stall.<br />

No Dogs will be tethered in the aisle, or running loose in the aisle.<br />

No dogs’ on/off leashes are allowed in the coliseum.<br />

Failure to comply in this will be cause for expulsion from fairgrounds.<br />

**THERE WILL BE NO SKATEBOARDS, ROLLERBLADES OR SKATES ALLOWED ON THE <strong>SHOW</strong> GROUNDS.<br />

NOTE: Violation of any of the provisions listed above will subject the Entry and/or Exhibitor to such penalty as the<br />

Management may impose, including disqualifications, removal from the grounds, forfeiting all awards, entry and stall fees,<br />

as well as refusal of future entries.<br />

ENTRIES & POST ENTRIES<br />

Entries can be made until July 7, 2012 at no additional post entry fee. Entries made after July 7, 2012 will have an<br />

additional 50% of entry fee added. Horses that are not entered before arrival may not have stall space available.<br />

No totally new entries will be accepted after July 16, 2012 in any draft related division without direct consultation with the<br />

horse show office.<br />

Entries received with postmarks after July 7th will pay a stall penalty as well as an additional 50% entry fee.<br />

READ – IMPORTANT<br />

All entries must be submitted with a check covering all fees by the dates below. THIS MEANS POSTMARKED BY:<br />

Entries Close for Draft horse, Draft pony, Haflinger and Gypsy & Drum Horses on July 7, 2012<br />

Entries may be delivered to the Horse Show Office. Those made after July 7, 2012, at 5 p.m. will be considered<br />

post entries.<br />

After this date the Horse Show reserves the right to refuse entries due to availability of stalls.<br />

Entries received after July 7, 2012 AT 5 P.M. will be considered as “post-entries” and will be charged $50.00/per horse,<br />

and double entry fees. NO NEW entries will be accepted after July 16, 2012 with out prior notification. Substitutions will be<br />

accepted.<br />

All signature lines must be signed. If no signatures are on the entry blank, the entry form and check will be<br />

returned and will not be processed until received back. All entries must still meet the deadline.<br />

ENTRIES SUBMISSION<br />

Every entry shall constitute an agreement that the owner, Agent, Trainer, Driver, Rider, as well as the Horse shall comply<br />

with the rules of the Ohio State Fair Horse Show and the rules of USA Equestrian.<br />

In making entries please comply with the following requirements.<br />

(1) Give all application information<br />

(2) Only One Owner (owner or lessee of horses) per entry blank<br />

(3) Address must be home address and not stable<br />

(4) Signed by owner or Agent, as well as trainer where applicable. A trainer is defined as “Any adult or adults who has the<br />

responsibility for the care, training, custody or performance of a horse.” Said person must sign the entry blank of any<br />

recognized show whether said person be the owner, rider, agent, coach, adult or minor, as well as trainer. Where a minor<br />

exhibitor has no trainer, a parent or guardian must sign and assume responsibility of trainer. The name of the trainer must<br />

be designated as such on the entry blank. It shall be the responsibility of Show Management to see that entry blanks<br />

contain all the required information.<br />

(5) CALL OR WRITE OUR OFFICE AND WE WILL SEND ADDITIONAL ENTRY BLANKS IF YOU CANNOT<br />

DOWNLOAD FROM THE WEBSITE.614-644-4035<br />

(6) Class errors on entry forms are the responsibility of the exhibitor and cannot be changed at the show without paying<br />

post-entry fee (exception-measurement).<br />

(7) Entry fees may not be switched to avoid the payment of post entry fees.<br />

(8) Anyone that shows in a class they are not entered in will be charged double the entry fee! And, they may be<br />

disqualified.<br />

(9) No Canadian Checks accepted. Please send certified check or money order.<br />

(10) If the owner or exhibitor is less than 18 years of age, the entry blank must be signed by a representative who is of<br />

age and who by such a signature, individually assures responsibility and risk as stated above in the signature. The Horse<br />

Show Management assumes no responsibility and this shall be a condition of entry.<br />

POST ENTRIES & SCRATCHES READ CAREFULLY<br />

No additions will be accepted on the day that the class is being held, except for championships that have a qualifying<br />

class on the same day. Please scratch if you do not intend to show. We will have a 2-minute Gate call on all classes. Do<br />

Not be shut out. Be COURTEOUS to other exhibitors and the Judge by scratching if you do not intend to show<br />

Post entries will be accepted for horses & equitation riders entered in the show prior to the closing date of entries.<br />

Horses that have been previously entered may post enter additional classes at 1-1/2 times the regular entry fee,<br />

except for championships, which will be at the regular fee. Post entry deadlines for classes will be by 5 p.m. the<br />

evening prior to the class, except halter championships. See championships in respected sections or divisions.<br />

Entries which fail to qualify while performing in a qualifying class by reasons of equipment repair, shoeing time or illness<br />

(certified by the official veterinarian) shall be permitted to make a post entry, at double fee, in another qualifying class of<br />

the section, if available, provided the horse has previously been nominated in the Championship or stake. Entries of this<br />

nature must be made at least one hour before the session in which the class is shown.<br />

SUBSTITUTION<br />

In the event of the sale or injury to a horse after the closing date of entries, show management will permit an exhibitor to<br />

post enter another of his own horses. Original fees can be transferred but post entry fee will be charged for additional<br />

classes entered. Sale of Horse requires “Bonified unconditional notarized bill of sale.”<br />

Veterinarian Certificate: If other than from the Horse Show’s Official Veterinarian, this certificate must give a diagnosis of<br />

the injury, printed name, address, telephone number of, as well as signature of issuing veterinarian.<br />

CHAMPIONSHIPS & STAKES<br />

To be eligible horses must have been entered, shown and judged in any class of its division or section.<br />

Championships must be entered in office the day prior to session in which the class is shown.<br />

To be “shown and judged” in any class in which horses compete together, an animal must perform at all required gaits<br />

both ways of the ring in the original workout and must remain in the ring, up to the point of the judge excusing it. (See<br />

exceptions in “Post Entries” above<br />

For entries and nomination in any CHAMPIONSHIPS see specifications included in the respective CHAMPIONSHIPS<br />

Exhibitors qualifying more than one horse for the same championship of any specific section or division may elect to show<br />

only one.<br />

CANCELLATIONS OF ENTRIES<br />

Exhibitors MUST cancel entries in writing prior to closing date of entries, Draft Horse, Draft Pony, Haflinger, Gypsy Horse<br />

Division July 7, 2012.<br />

If canceled on or before July 7, 2012 depending on the division into which the entries are made, the entire fee excluding<br />

exhibitor passes, parking passes and a $25.00 processing fee shall be returned to the exhibitor.<br />

Refunds for those entries cancelled prior to July 7, 2012 are done after the fair in late October.<br />

REFUNDS<br />

There will be no refund of either entry or stall fees for any reason after the closing date of entries. EXCEPTION: Death of<br />

horse. A signed and dated vet certificate must be presented to the horse show office, prior to the day the first class<br />

entered is to be shown.<br />

No refunds issued for amount less than $10.00. Please double-check your addition. Refund checks issued & mailed<br />

separately from premium checks.<br />

SCRATCHES<br />

All horses that are not going to be shown MUST BE OFFICIALLY SCRATCHED AT THE <strong>HORSE</strong> <strong>SHOW</strong> OFFICE PRIOR<br />

TO THE CLASS.<br />

Any exhibitor who does not officially scratch their entry at the office, paddock or announcer will be accessed a $50.00<br />

fee. And, if not paid, no premium checks will be mailed. Notifications will not be accepted by phone. Official scratch forms<br />

must be used to make scratches unless it is due to equipment failure or accident in the warm up ring prior to the class.<br />

NO REFUNDS WILL BE MADE ON SCRATCHED ENTRIES!!! FEES WILL NOT BE TRANSFERED IF YOU SCRATCH<br />

A CLASS.<br />

Exhibitors must notify the secretary of scratches one (1) hour before the session. A fee of $50.00 will be assessed any<br />

exhibitor who fails to properly notify of any scratches.<br />

EXHIBITOR PASSES<br />

Each exhibitor (the name on the entry blank) is offered the opportunity to purchase advance sale tickets for the<br />

Fair. The purchase of these tickets is optional. You are NOT required to purchase any of them. A 6-day ticket is<br />

available for twenty-eight dollars ($28.00); a 12-day ticket is fifty dollars ($50.00); and single admission advance<br />

sale tickets are available for Six dollars ($6.00) each. You may order as many tickets as you wish.<br />

BACK NUMBERS: ANY ENTRY THAT DOES NOT WEAR THE CORRECT BACK NUMBER FOR THE CLASS THEY<br />

ARE ENTERED IN WILL NOT RECEIVE THE PREMIUMS THEY EARN. THE <strong>HORSE</strong>S NAME IS ON THE BACK OF<br />

EACH BACK NUMBER ALONG WITH THE CLASSES WE UNDERSTAND YOU WISH TO <strong>SHOW</strong> IN YOU NEED TO<br />

REVIEW THE BACK NUMBERS AND IF THERE IS AN ERROR IT MUST BE CORRECTED WITH THE <strong>HORSE</strong> <strong>SHOW</strong><br />

OFFICE PRIOR TO <strong>SHOW</strong>ING. YOU CAN ALSO SEE BY YOUR <strong>STATE</strong>MENT EACH <strong>HORSE</strong>'S ENTRIES. THERE<br />

WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS RULE.<br />

PARKING PERMITS PRE <strong>FAIR</strong> EXHIBITORS PURCHASE AT THE GATE NO NEED TO PRE PURCHASE ON ENTRY<br />

BLANK.<br />

Each exhibitor has the option of purchasing parking permits at a cost of forty dollars ($40.00) 6 day or one 3 Day for<br />

$20.00 for the first sticker Each additional sticker will cost $75.00 (seventy five dollars). The parking permit will allow<br />

the exhibitor to enter a specified gate and park in preferred parking space for exhibitors on a first-come, first-served basis.<br />

All cars entering the fairgrounds with a $40.00 parking permit will be admitted at no additional parking charge, and may<br />

leave and re-enter at no additional parking charge. Cars & trucks without the $40.00 prepaid permit must pay $5.00 each<br />

time entering the fairground parking lot north of 17th Avenue and outside the main entrance gate. Duplication of an Ohio<br />

State Fair permit or ticket is defrauding the State of Ohio. Anyone found duplicating permits or tickets will be prosecuted.<br />

GATE PROCEDURE<br />

No one will receive a hand stamp when they enter the fairgrounds. If you leave the grounds during the day, you will need<br />

to get a hand stamp before you leave the grounds. Hand stamps will only be provided at the request of the fairgoer, as<br />

they exit the fairgrounds. If you fail to get the hand stamp before you leave the grounds, you will need to use a ticket or<br />

pay to get back on the fairgrounds<br />

UNLOADING — LOADING RESTRICTIONS<br />

Horses must be unloaded in barn area but VANS, TRUCKS AND TRAILERS MUST BE REMOVED FROM AREA<br />

IMMEDIATELY THEREAFTER. There will be no parking of any vehicles in the barn area and all vehicles must be parked<br />

in designated areas. THIS WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED BY THE <strong>OHIO</strong> <strong>STATE</strong> HIGHWAY PATROL. If necessary, a<br />

tow truck on the grounds will be used to remove any vehicles parked in undesignated areas or left parked longer than the<br />

State Highway Patrol deems necessary for loading or unloading.<br />

BEDDING — FIRST BEDDING WILL NOT BE FURNISHED Sawdust and sand are not to be used for bedding, due to the<br />

difficulty in contracting for the disposal of manure containing these materials. PREFERRED BEDDING IS STRAW. Wood<br />

shavings is acceptable.<br />

PLACE ALL BEDDING BAGS NEXT TO THE REFUGE BARRELS IN THE BARN!!<br />

FEED: The Ohio State Fair contracts with a concessionaire for the operation of a feed store on the grounds. Exhibitors<br />

may bring their own feed and bedding. All purchases made during the show must be from the feed concession. NO<br />

OUTSIDE VENDORS WILL BE PERMITTED TO MAKE DELIVERIES ON THE <strong>FAIR</strong> GROUNDS<br />

All riders, drivers, headers and handlers must be appropriately dressed and strictly adhere to conditions governing<br />

COMPETITION.<br />

General Manager of the Ohio Expo Center & State Fair has made the following ruling regarding roping/closing of aisles in<br />

The Gilligan Complex during the 2012 Ohio State Fair.<br />

1. All aisles must be open to the general public during non-show hours. Aisles may be closed one hour prior to each<br />

session.<br />

2. Aisles may be closed from 11 pm each night until 6 am each morning.<br />

3. Chairs must not be used to block the aisles.<br />

4. Lights in the horse show barn MUST remain on at all times for security reasons.<br />

WASH RACKS<br />

Wash racks are located at various locations throughout the barn. For the purpose of safety, do not wash horses in the<br />

aisles of the stabling area, in front of the barn on the mall side or run water hoses to your stalls.<br />

BOX STALLS & STALL FEES<br />

Stalls are permanent 10' x 10' with sliding doors. Any entry specifying unconditional requirements, which cannot be met by<br />

management, will be returned to the exhibitor. Stall Fee must be paid on each horse.<br />

TACK STALLS<br />

Tack Stall, $60.00 — Due to limited stabling facilities, tack stalls are available only to stables using four horse stalls or<br />

more. (A tack stall is any stall used for any purpose other than stabling a horse.) Absolutely no stalls rented for any<br />

purpose other than horses, tack, and feed. Stalls are not to be used for sleeping or cooking! No large appliances may be<br />

plugged into the outlets in the barn. All fans must use heavy-duty extension cords – no household extension cords.<br />

No large appliances may be in stalls. No air conditioners ,water heaters or large refrigerators.<br />

STALL DAMAGES<br />

There will be NO removal of doors or fronts of tack stalls for decorations. Tack Stall decorations will be limited to hanging<br />

curtains on the fronts of the Stalls only. NO NAILS OR STAPLES ARE ALLOWED. The building maintenance supervisor<br />

will be checking your stalls before you leave and any damages will be charged to you at that time. Exhibitors are<br />

responsible for all damages. Cost per each panel damaged could be between $60.00 and $250.00<br />

WORK RING FOOTING<br />

Footing in the official work ring and the show arena will be a combination of sand and dirt. The show arena is 300’X175’.<br />

Work ring will be limited in its use. A work schedule for the outside arena and the show will be posted and those posted<br />

times will be strictly enforced. Anyone violating the posted schedule will be subject to expulsion from the grounds for the<br />

duration of the show.<br />

SHARPS CONTAINERS<br />

Sharps containers are conveniently placed along the center isle of the barn for use of disposal for medical waste<br />

accumulating from the treatment of horses housed in the Gilligan Complex. Management reserves the right to fine any<br />

individual for improper disposal of needles or other sharp disposable instruments.<br />

PREMIUM PAYMENTS (IMPORTANT INFORMATION)<br />

Terms and Conditions subject to change, including, but not limited to premiums.<br />

Any exhibitor who has not received money due them from the Ohio State Fair by October 15, 2012 should notify<br />

the Horse Show Office immediately at 717 E. 17th Ave., Columbus, Ohio 43211 or phone at 614-644-4000. All<br />

checks are void ninety (90) days after they are issued. Any checks not cashed or Processed by December 31,<br />

2012 causes automatic forfeit of any premiums won at the 2012 Ohio State Fair. Any disputes about prize monies<br />

earned must be made prior to December 31, 2012.<br />

IRS INFORMATION<br />

In order to comply with Internal Revenue Service requirements the Ohio Expositions Commission must require a properly<br />

completed Form W-9 to be submitted with each competitive entry & venders id form.. When completing the enclosed<br />

Form W-9 please be sure to carefully read and follow the form's instructions. Payment of cash premiums to the successful<br />

competitor will be made according to the information, thus the Form W-9 should be completed consistently with how the<br />

competitor is registered with the Internal Revenue Service. The Expositions Commission will not make payment of any<br />

amount without a properly completed W-9 Form.<br />

NO PRIZE MONEY WILL BE MAILED WITHOUT A CURRENT W-9 FORM BEING FILED IN 2012<br />

CONDUCT OF <strong>SHOW</strong><br />

RING PROCEDURE<br />

Exhibitors are hereby notified that entries in all collective classes will be allowed a maximum of two minutes to enter the<br />

ring from the time the first horse enters the ring. Official timers will be appointed. IF EXHIBITOR FEELS A CONFLICT<br />

COULD OCCUR, CHOOSE EVENT MOST DESIRED.<br />

ADMISSION TO ARENA<br />

No person shall be permitted to enter the arena, except participants in the class showing, judges, officials and their<br />

assistants. Attendants will not be permitted in the arena until summoned by order of judge. Entry numbers shall be worn<br />

on the rider or driver’s back and shall be clearly visible at all times when in competition. The judge may penalize exhibitors<br />

without visible back numbers.<br />

BREAKAGE OF EQUIPMENT<br />

An exhibitor is entitled to request suspension of judging for a period not to exceed five minutes, in aggregate, in order to<br />

repair broken equipment, replace a shoe or rectify a similar accident. The exhibitor must go to the center of the ring for<br />

any such emergency, which will constitute a request for time out. Time shall be taken from the moment the exhibitor goes<br />

to the center of the ring, except in the event of a horse casting a shoe, time shall begin (after weighing has concluded, if<br />

applicable) when the Farrier or his assistant touches the shoe or when he enters the ring, which ever comes first. If a rider<br />

or driver is not involved in the “time out” he may make minor adjustments that can be performed with the assistance of<br />

one attendant, within that time, and not be charged with a “time out”.<br />

EXERCISE AND SCHOOLING HOURS<br />

Schedule of exercise and schooling hours will be announced. Schooling is allowed 30 minutes after the end of the<br />

evening session until 5:30 am. Schooling in the main show arena will not be permitted between sessions of the show. Any<br />

one violating this schedule will be asked to leave the grounds. NO LUNGING IN THE MAIN <strong>SHOW</strong> ARENA AT<br />

ANYTIME. NO LUNGING IN THE SCHOOLING AREA DURING <strong>SHOW</strong> PERFORMANCES.<br />

QUESTIONS OR DISPUTES<br />

This Show, through its Horse Show Management, reserves the right to itself to interpret all questions and conditions in<br />

regard to, or arising out of, or incident to, the Show, without claim for damages or recourse of any kind. No dispute will be<br />

discussed while the Show is in session. No exhibitor shall approach a Judge or Official Veterinarian with regard to a<br />

decision unless he first obtains permission from the Show Manager or Steward who shall arrange an appointment with the<br />

Judge or Veterinarian at a proper time and place. Under no circumstances while any session of this show is in progress<br />

will such a meeting occur.<br />

VETERINARY EXAMINATIONS<br />

An official Veterinarian will be designated to make official inspections and rulings in all cases where the opinion of a<br />

veterinarian is required. The Horse Show Veterinarian can be reached 1 hour prior to and throughout each session at the<br />

Horse Show Office. At all other times please contact the Fair Veterinarians Office. Any charges incurred while on the Ohio<br />

State Fair grounds for veterinarian services must be paid to the veterinarian. Anyone leaving the grounds without paying<br />

their accounts in negotiable funds will have their premium checks withheld until payment is made. Anyone who does not<br />

pay in full from previous years will not be in good standing with the show management and will have entries returned as<br />

unacceptable.<br />

DIVISION CANCELLATION OR COMBINATION OF CLASSES<br />

(a) Should the number of entries warrant, classes would be divided by age of Junior Exhibitors or sex and heights of<br />

horses. BE SURE TO FURNISH NECESSARY INFORMATION ON ENTRY BLANK. Where divided, duplicate awards will<br />

be made<br />

(b) Should the best interest of the show require it, the Horse Show Committee reserves the right to cancel any class<br />

where there are less than four entries. Those who have entered the classes that are to be canceled, combined or divided<br />

will be notified by mail or public address at the horse show.<br />

(c)Management reserves the right to move any classes to outside rings when it is deemed beneficial to the operation of<br />

the show.<br />

<strong>HORSE</strong> <strong>SHOW</strong> OFFICE INFORMATION<br />

The Show Office may be reached by calling (614) 644-4035. Fax 614-644-4003. This is a seasonal office and is staffed<br />

full-time July through September. During the Ohio State Fair the office will close one hour prior to the start of each session<br />

and reopen 1/2 hour after session has begun. Check the show office for hours of operation. Hours During The Show - the<br />

office hours will be 7 am to 7 pm daily closing for 1 hour prior to the start of the afternoon & evening session to prepare for<br />

that session & reopening 30 minutes after the session starts.<br />

General Rules<br />

1. A Draft pony is a miniature of one of the five established Draft Horse breeds Belgian, Percheron, Clydesdale, Shire Or<br />

Suffolk and must show the conformation character of a draft horse.<br />

2. Ponies shown in halter class are to be set up square, not stretched, with hocks as close together as possible, cannon<br />

bones paralleled and perpendicular fetlocks close together and rear feet turned slightly out.<br />

3. In the single hitch classes, the same pony MAY NOT be used in both Gentlemen's and Ladies' cart classes.<br />

4. In the team hitch classes, the same ponies MAY be used for both Gentlemen's and Ladies’ team classes.<br />

5. For dress code and special hitch rules refer to general rules and regulations at the beginning on the Draft Horse<br />

Division.<br />

6. Any question on the height of a pony will be resolved by official measurement at the show before any shoeing<br />

RULES<br />

REGISTERED HAFLINGERS<br />

1. Registered Haflingers shown in halter classes are to be set according to their type.<br />

2. ELIGIBILITY -- All Haflingers, one year and over, must be registered to the current owner in an approved Association<br />

of the World Haflinger Federation.<br />

3. A copy of the original registration papers showing front and back must accompany entry for any registered classes.<br />

Unregistered entries cannot show in registered classes.<br />

Foals must be purebred, eligible to register, and must be designated by name. The names and registration numbers of<br />

sire and dam, and the date of foaling must be given on the entry blank.<br />

4. For dress code and special hitch rules refer to general rules and regulations at the beginning of the Draft Horse<br />

Division.<br />

5. Members of one family shall be allowed to exhibit their Haflingers together in-group classes as one exhibitor. These<br />

Haflingers may be recorded in the breed registry in separate names of one immediate family.<br />

6. In the single hitch classes you must change horses for the Gentleman and Lady , Mare & Stallion/GeldingCart classes.<br />

8. In Team Hitch the same ponies may be used for Gentleman and Ladies Team Classes.<br />
