Admissions & Registration<br />
New Student Admission<br />
To be eligible for general admission to the college, ONE of the<br />
following is required:<br />
• High school or GED graduation, or<br />
• 18 years of age or older, or<br />
• A written release from the high school district<br />
(Usually, applicants under the age of 16 are not offered general<br />
admission.)<br />
Fast registration<br />
Students who wish to register for one to six credits may register in<br />
person at their local campus registration office. For information, phone<br />
360.475.7200 and press “O” to speak to a registration representative.<br />
Students with previously completed degrees or professional certifications<br />
may register without required advising if prerequisites are met.<br />
Transfer credit<br />
Course work at other colleges or universities may count toward degree or<br />
certificate requirements.<br />
1. Register and attend class.<br />
2. Fill out and submit the “Request for Advance Standing” form<br />
(available at any college campus or at www.olympic.edu/Students/<br />
GettingStarted/recregforms)<br />
3. Submit official college transcripts to Registration and Records.<br />

How to apply and register:<br />
1 Submit your application for admission online www.olympic.edu/<br />
Admissions, by mail or in person, to the Admissions Office (see pg.<br />
11 for the paper application).<br />
2 Apply for financial aid as soon as possible if needed (see page 5).<br />
3 Admission letter will be sent to you by email or mail. The letter<br />
will contain your student identification number (SID).<br />
4 Take the assessment (reading, writing, mathematics). Phone<br />
Student Entry and Advising Center or your local college campus<br />
to schedule an assessment time (see page 5).<br />
5 Attend new student advising. Phone the Student Entry and<br />
Advising Center to sign up for a session. Take your assessment<br />
scores with you.<br />
6 Register. After advising, register in person at the registration<br />
office at any campus.<br />
7 Pay tuition. Pay online, in person or by phone within two<br />
business days after registration (see page 8).<br />
8 Buy books. Purchase books at the OC Bremerton, OC Poulsbo,<br />
or OC Shelton bookstore, or online at http://ocbookstore.com.<br />
9 Attend classes. Attendance is required. To add or drop classes,<br />
an add/drop form must be submitted to the registration office.<br />
Military & Veteran Applicants<br />
• Military students can go to the OC Office at Naval Base Kitsap<br />
(Bremerton and Bangor) to apply and register. See page 57 for details.<br />
• Veterans benefit information and assistance in accessing veteran<br />
educational benefits is available to those who qualify. In addition,<br />
veterans may be eligible for an <strong>Olympic</strong> <strong>College</strong> tuition waiver. Contact<br />
the Veterans Services Office for answers to questions or visit the<br />
website www.olympic.edu/VeteransServices. See new information about eligible<br />
dependents on page 75.<br />
Running Start Applicants<br />
High school juniors and seniors who wish to enroll in Running Start<br />
(RS) classes at Bremerton, Poulsbo or Shelton campuses should follow<br />
directions in the RS application packet available in high school counseling<br />
centers or from the college. Please submit the general OC application for<br />
admission, take the college assessment and then submit the separate RS<br />
application together with a copy of the assessment scores and high school<br />
transcripts (minimum 2.5 GPA required).<br />
All admitted RS students must attend a RS orientation and meet with<br />
both a high school counselor and college RS advisor prior to registration.<br />

Spring 2008 February 15, 2008<br />
Fall 2008 May 1, 2008<br />
*Late applications for <strong>Winter</strong> accepted until January 4, 2008.<br />
