Adoption of Proclamation - "Osceola County Teacher Appreciation Week" - May 7-11, 2012<br />

FINANCIAL SOURCE:<br />

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:<br />

We request the School Board adopt the attached proclamation designating the week of May 7-11, 2012, as<br />

"Osceola County Teacher Appreciation Week."<br />

The first "full" week of May has been designated Teacher Appreciation Week, and the first Tuesday (May 8)<br />

within that week has been designated National Teacher Day. The School District of Osceola County hereby<br />

recognizes and thanks all of our dedicated teachers for their commitment to the highest academic standards,<br />

safe schools, and lifelong learning for all students.<br />

Nanci Brillant, 2013 Osceola County Teacher of the Year, will present the proclamation declaring the week of<br />

May 7-11, 2012, as "Osceola County Teacher Appreciation Week."<br />

<strong>DISTRICT</strong> FOCUS AREA(S):<br />

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT: Grow and strengthen instructional<br />

practices to increase the academic achievement of all students<br />

<strong>DISTRICT</strong> GOAL(S):<br />

Establish a culture of continuous improvement.<br />

Ensure the education system is differentiated for each learner with the<br />

goal to reduce the achievement gap for each student.<br />

Instructional decisions will be based upon the analysis of student data.<br />

The District will reduce the number of students scoring at level 1 or 2 on<br />

the State Assessments in Reading and Writing.<br />

Increase the graduation rate at all high schools.<br />

CLIMATE: Cultivate and sustain a safe and positive environment<br />

where students are engaged in their learning and the rights of all<br />

individuals are protected and respected.<br />

Restructure the organization & leadership at the District Office to reduce<br />

administrative costs & provide direct supervision of schools by superintendent.<br />

Establish system of accountability to ensure appropriate management of<br />

resources at all levels to provide efficient & fiscally responsible practice.<br />

Build capacity in leadership for the future of the District.<br />

Implement a HR & professional development system that places an emphasis on<br />

high levels of performance & a system which supports employee improvement.<br />

Establish practice which is firm, fair and consistent in all dealings both internally<br />

and externally.<br />

FINANCE/EFFICIENT OPERATIONS: Closely monitor and<br />

manage District finances and operations in order to sustain<br />

educational program priorities over the long term and provide<br />

transparency to the public.<br />

Improve the quality, integrity and consistency of our communications with<br />

all stakeholders.<br />

Establish a climate of individual trustworthiness and trust among all<br />

stakeholders in the educational community.<br />

THIS FIRST AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT ("First Amendment") is by and between The School Board<br />

of Osceola County, Florida, (hereinafter "School Board"), whose address is 817 Bill Beck Boulevard, Kissimmee,<br />

Flotida 34744, and Learninq Services International, LLC, (hereinafter "Consultant"), whose address is 175 Cornell<br />

Road. Suite 18. Blairsville. PA '15717.<br />

WHEREAS, School Board and Consultant entered into that certain Agreement for an internet based,<br />

electronic data collection and management system for conducting classroom walk-throughs and teacher<br />

observations dated June 7.2011, in connection with the School District's Professional Development Department;<br />

and<br />

WHEREAS, the parties desire to amend that Agreement with this document.<br />

NOW, <strong>THE</strong>REFORE, the parties hereto amend the Agreement as follows:<br />

1. The Recitals in the WHEREAS clauses are incorporated by reference and made a part of this<br />

Agreement.<br />

2. Section 5 - Fees and Payment Terms: Fees for the licenses and services provided during the<br />

renewal period are set forth in Exhibits A, B and C.<br />

3. Section 9 -<br />

Term and Termination: Per section 9.01 the agreement allows for at the conclusion<br />

of the initial term, the Agreement may be renewed for an additional term by either pa(y.<br />

4. The additional services and fees for the 2012-2013 school year will be $181 ,500.00.<br />

5. Except as herein expressly modified, the Agreement for an internet based, electronic data<br />

collection and management system for conducting classroom walk-throughs and teacher<br />

observations dated June 7. 2011 shall otherwise remain in full force and effect, sub.ject to all terms<br />

Customer Acknowledgment<br />

Customer acknowledges agreement with these Terms and Conditions of Sale by the placement of an order to purchase products or services<br />

from Learning Sciences International, LLC.<br />

Prices<br />

Prices quoted are good for 30 days from the date of proposal or quote, unless otherwise stated in writing.<br />

Terms<br />

Purchase order or payment is required prior to order fulfillment. Make checks payable to “Learning Sciences International” and submit to<br />

175 Cornell Road, Suite 18, Blairsville, PA 15717.<br />

Purchase Orders<br />

Original copies of purchase orders should be sent to Learning Sciences International, 175 Cornell Road, Suite 18, Blairsville, PA 15717 or<br />

faxed to 724.459.6373.<br />

Payments<br />

Standard payment terms are net 30 from date of invoice. Seller reserves the right to charge interest at the rate of 0.5% per month on past due<br />

balances. Seller also reserves the right to submit invoices greater than 90 days past due to a third party agency for collection.<br />

Scheduling<br />

On-site training and professional development sessions requires 30 days advance notice. Purchase orders or payment must be received<br />

before training dates can be reserved. Trainings scheduled at the Customer’s request less than 30 days advance notice are subject to a $500<br />

premium or additional pre-session charges of $500 may apply.<br />

Cancellation<br />

On-site training and professional development sessions may be rescheduled prior to 30 days in advance without penalty. Districts who cancel<br />

within the 30 day window will be charged $500 fee + travel expenses incurred (including cancellation and airline booking fees.)<br />

Shipping and Handling<br />

Shipping and Handling for print materials shown at standard ground rates. Please allow 7-10 business days for order processing and delivery.<br />

Expedited or overnight shipping available for some items. Additional fees may apply.<br />

LSI will fulfill your order based on the quantity of materials shown on your purchase order. Should you request additional copies of materials,<br />

you will be invoiced for the materials plus shipping and handling. Expedited or overnight shipping may apply.<br />

Additional Terms and Conditions for users of the iObservation System and/or Terms and Conditions for On-site Training Delivery will be<br />
