that a snowstorm can be
just around the corner. “Across
the nation, post offices are
preparing for the holiday rush
with packages, cards and letters
mailed this season. But as we
begin the winter months, Mother
Nature might decide that this is
her year,” said Wilson.
How can you help us? Include
Tic Toc Café, located at 410 Lake Avenue in St.
James, will host a free one-hour lecture series on Feng
Shui given by Maureen K. Calamia of Luminous
Spaces. The one-hour events will be held on Thursdays,
February 24 (Discover Your Life Path) and March
10 (Feng Shui & Your Health) at 7 p.m.

St. James PO Asks Customers to Remove
Snow, Ice for Letter Carriers

letter carriers deliver the mail, it
is vital that postal customers
keep sidewalks and access to the
mailbox clear for letter carriers to
perform their services safely.
Letter carriers cannot make
door or curb deliveries when the
approach to the mailbox is hazardous
because of snow or ice.
Carriers are not allowed to attempt
door delivery when there
is a heavy buildup of snow and
ice on sidewalks, steps or
porches. They are not allowed to
dismount for curb line boxes
blocked by snow and ice
buildup. Snow must be cleared
to the curb line for at least six (6)
feet on both sides of the mailbox
so the carrier may approach and
leave without backing up. Customers
should be aware that
there is always the possibility of
lawsuits by any individual, including
letter carriers, who injure
themselves on unclear paths.
