The Secretariat (Office of the Secretary General)
The Secretariat, the administrative arm of the National Assembly, consists of two officers: a
Secretary General and a Deputy Secretary General. The officers and staff of the Secretariat
are not elected officials nor are they appointed by any political party. The two officers are
nominated by the President of the National Assembly and appointed by Royal Decree. The
remainder of the staff are nominated by the the President of the National Assembly on the
proposal of the Secretary General.
The Secretary General is responsible for maintaining the documents and records of the
National Assembly and the Commissions, preparing reports required by the National
Assembly, and managing administrative affairs and all contacts outside the Assembly.
