Bred by Mike and Carol Elliott in Victoria
and sold as a weanling to John Morrison who
showed him to win PHAA National
Champion colt and Yearling Futurity
Champion.
Purchased by Murray and Vicki Stevens in August 1992
when Peppy Shaker had just turned four. His show
record at that time had 16 Halter Points and 1 Western
Pleasure point.
Over the next two years Peppy Shaker with limited training
and shown by trainer, David Norbury, Peppy attained
National Championships in Western Pleasure, Reining and
Get of Sire plus multiple State Championships in Halter,
Trail, Western Pleasure, Western Riding and Reining. At his
retirement from the show ring he was a PHAA Champion, a
Superior Halter Horse plus ROMs’ in Trail, Western
Pleasure, Western Riding and Reining.
Sired by Peppy’s Chickabar, who was a sabino by the
imported QH Crop out sire, Peppy’s Doc Bar, who now after
his death has been registered QH. Chickasha Bar, the dam
of Peppy’s Chickabar, was a Sabino crop out by Chickasha
Dan (Imp) out of Kitty’s Gail (Imp). Peppy’s Chickabar as a
two year old won the 2YO Open Breed Sires Classic Western
Pleasure futurity with Craig Emerton and then as a 3YO
won the Wagga Cutting Futurity again ridden by Craig
Emerton. The following year he won the NCHA Derby with
Graham Lamey on board.
Peppy Shaker’s dam, San Antonio Rose, a loud Overo, was a
PHAA Weanling Halter Futurity Champion and National/ State
Weanling Filly Champion & has a Superior Halter award.
Her sire, the loud Overo Diamond Jim Jnr (Imp) has only
five PHAA registered progeny because he died from an
injury shortly after arriving in Australia. Her dam, San Jose,
was a crop out by San Leo Joe (Imp) out of Sextant (TB)
who produced six PHAA Weanling Futurity Champions.
Peppy Shaker has sired progeny who have shown ability in
most facets of the horse industry. To name a few who have
proven their sire has past on his versatility and trainable
mind are;
• Twin Oaks Cleopatra – trained by Natasha Backhouse and
created history by being the first horse / rider combination
to win all three VRHA, NSWRHA and QRHA Non-Pro
Reining futurities plus the NRHA Youth Champion. Cleo
also won the PHAA Senior Reining title plus multiple State
Champion Reining titles.
• Peppys Bonanza – PHAA Sires Classic Champion,
Weanling Halter Futurity Champion and Southern Circuit
Super Slider Reining series Champion
• Shake It Up Babe – PHAA National Weanling Halter
Futurity Champion, National Reserve Champion Weanling
Filly, State Champion Weanling Filly, Western Pleasure and
Hunter under Saddle State Futurity Champion.
• DS Streetfighter – Western Pleasure Futurity Champion.
• All The Right Moves – National Champion Yearling Filly,
State Western Pleasure Futurity Champion, Superior Halter
Horse.
• Kelang Shakin Morn – VRHA Reserve Open Reining
Champion.
• Twin Oaks Speckled Oak – multiple 2YO and Junior Horse
high point awards in Open Western Breed shows in central
Queensland with Robyn Edgar.
• San Bar Peppy – Multiple Dressage and Hack
Championships
• Wyandah Peppys Jag – PHAA Champion, PHAA
Champion Youth Horse, Superior awards in Western
Pleasure and HUS, Weanling Halter Futurity Champion,
multiple awards in Western Pleasure, HUS, Trail, Western
Horsemanship, English Equitation and Halter in Open
events as well as Youth.
• Twin Oaks Peppy San Bar – winning and placing in Rookie
Cutting events in North QLD.
• Twin Oaks All Talk – PHAA Champion, multiple awards in
Western Pleasure, Trail, Western Horsemanship, HUS and
Halter.
• Twin Oaks Tahnee – Winning and placing in Campdrafting
in the Charters Towers area.
Peppy Shaker as a show horse has equaled or bettered what
most imported Paint Sires have achieved, plus through his
diversity as a sire over a limited number of mares he has put
on the ground everything from Halter Futurity Champions
to saddle horses of all descriptions. ✪
