Villedieu primary school test a full English and a monkey puzzle St Saviour’s School and their Normandy twin get together for a day at the zoo STAFF and children of the Ecole Primaire Notre Dame in Villedieu on their annual visit to their pen pals at St Saviour’s School, face the day with a full English breakfast at Beuveland Campsite where they camped overnight. It is part of their “being English” experience and even the headmaster Philippe Paillette and the teachers are expected to face bacon and eggs, baked beans, sausage and fried potatoes at the beginning of their day. ‘For our children, this may be their only experience of life in an English-speaking country, and we want to get the most out of it,’ explained the children’s English teacher Marie Legentil. ‘It’s just a breakfast!’ The group spent a marvellous day with their St Saviour friends, including a joint trip of 60 Jersey and French children to Durell as guests of St Saviour’s Parish who also provided a healthy lunch at the Café Dodo, where the children were joined by the head teacher of St Saviour’s School, Kate Sugden, and the secretary of the St Saviour Twinning Association, Bob Olliver. The nine and ten-year-olds were also treated to a visit to Elizabeth Castle during their two-day trip. Children from St Saviour’s School will visit their counterparts next spring.
