Corporate governance<br />
The Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Standards Councils<br />
members are appointed for a term not<br />
exceeding three years. They are eligible for<br />
reappointment at the expiration <strong>of</strong> their term.<br />
At the commencement <strong>of</strong> each Council<br />
meeting, along with meetings <strong>of</strong> associated<br />
committees, Councillors must declare any<br />
conflict <strong>of</strong> interest to ensure transparency<br />
and probity in relation to each decision <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Councils.<br />
The Councils have implemented a five-year<br />
strategic plan and an internal risk management<br />
plan, based on the Risk Management<br />
Standard AS/NZS ISO 31000:2009. The<br />
Councils update these plans bi-annually and<br />
review them at Council meetings to ensure<br />
they take into account any change to the<br />
strategic and risk landscapes.<br />
Terms <strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice and remuneration<br />
As mentioned above, Council members are<br />
appointed for a term <strong>of</strong> up to three years, and<br />
are eligible for reappointment at the expiration<br />
<strong>of</strong> their term. During the reporting period,<br />
Madeleine Ogilvie retired from full Council<br />
duties and Tiina-Liisa Sexton was appointed in<br />
her place.<br />

The Chairman is additionally paid a retainer<br />
<strong>of</strong> $2,575 per annum for out-<strong>of</strong>-session work<br />

The average sitting time <strong>of</strong> Council meetings<br />
during the period was approximately four<br />
hours.<br />
