Bavarian Open House at Maka a resounding success
MAKA’s open house on 3-5 June
drew customers in unexpected
high numbers to the exhibition
in Telford. Phil Pitchford, managing
director, was delighted with
the serious quality enquiries
recorded and the reaction and
enthusiasm of the visitors.
Existing and new potential customers
had a great opportunity to
mix and exchange information.
MAKA’s PE70 five-axis CNC router
focused demonstrations on the
machine’s speciality: hardwood
joinery products, showing its superior
technology, flexibility, fast
job changes, precision and finish.
This, together with the presence of
experts from Leitz Tooling and
software specialists NC Hops, Delcam,
Compass and Staircon, provided
all the support information
needed. Visitors really appreciated
the technical advice and solutions
SCM GROUP UK, the UK subsidiary of the Italian manufacturer,
SCM Group Spa, recently opened its impressive new
building, Blenheim House, located in Bulwell, Nottingham,
and the event also included a three-day In-House Exhibition
in the new extended Showroom area.
The Opening Ceremony, including the cutting of a ribbon with
the Italian flag colours, was performed by SCM Group’s Vice President,
Adriano Aureli, and the Sheriff of Nottingham, Councillor
Brian Grocock, in front of all SCM UK’s employees, Italian representatives,
distributors, suppliers and visiting customers.
SCM, a world leading manu facturer of woodworking and
panel processing machinery, has had a presence in the Nottingham
area for over 25 years, the last 19 years in SCM House, Dabell
Avenue, Bulwell, but due to continued expansion, and with the
business split over three separate buildings, it was decided to relocate
to a new 37,000 ft 2 building that would contain sales, servicing,
spare parts, training, accounts and logistics departments,
plus showroom and warehousing, all under one roof.

much appreciated by visitors, who
enjoyed the beer, sausage and
salad refreshments and the
friendly hospitality. An enjoyable
and productive visit was had by all.
