Achieving proficiency in decision making and problem solving is an essential skill for career planning and lifelong<br />
learning. Students use self-knowledge, educational and career information to set and achieve realistic career and<br />
educational goals. Career exploration and discovery are individualized for each student. Students gain a better<br />
understanding of careers, skills needed, and create plans for high school and postsecondary.<br />
PRINCIPLES OF ARTS, AUDIO/VIDEO TECHNOLOGY Semesters: 1<br />
AND COMMUNICATIONS<br />

Principles of Arts, A/V Technology, and Communications is a semester course designed to provide students with a<br />
foundation in the fundamentals of design and computer technology used in the arts, design and animation, and video<br />
technology professions. Students will develop basic knowledge, concepts, technical skills and vocabulary necessary for<br />
computer digital illustration for print, the internet, animation and video technology. The computer will serve as a tool to<br />
solve problems, gain knowledge and communication ideas.<br />
PROFESSIONAL COMMUNICATIONS (Speech) Semesters: 1<br />
<strong>High</strong> School Credit: .5 (1 semester)<br />
The successful participation in professional and social life, students must develop effective communication skills.<br />
Students enrolled in Communication Applications will be expected to identify, analyze, develop and evaluate<br />
communication skills needed for professional and social success in interpersonal situations, group interactions, and<br />
personal and professional presentations.<br />
SPANISH I Semesters: 2<br />
<strong>High</strong> School Credit: 1<br />
The student will be able to understand statements, commands, and ask and answer questions from everyday<br />
conversation. The student will be able to read and write simple expressions. The student will become aware of the<br />
history and culture of Spanish-speaking areas. Students’ grades in Spanish will be evaluated at the end of each<br />
grading period.<br />
NO PARTIAL HIGH SCHOOL CREDIT WILL BE AWARDED IN ANY OF THESE COURSES IF THE STUDENT<br />
DOES NOT MEET THE ABOVE CRITERIA OR EXITS THE PROGRAM AT ANY TIME FOR ANY REASON.<br />
