About the trainer<br />
Garry Sharp has 22 years’ experience as a practitioner, consultant, writer and trainer in the private equity and<br />
venture capital markets. Garry is currently a director of a private equity firm in Cairo, an advisor to a captive PE<br />
fund in Mauritius, a director of a corporate finance firm in Lagos and non-exec of a private company in London. He<br />
joined independent venture capital company Baronsmead in 1985, and became a director and shareholder following<br />
Baronsmead’s own MBO in 1989. During the early 1990s the company grew to become one of the UK’s largest independent<br />
private equity firms and was acquired by fund manager Ivory & Sime in 1996. Shortly thereafter Garry left to co-found<br />
Independent Direction which he sold in 2005 to concentrate on training and writing, whilst continuing to work in an advisory<br />
capacity in private equity. Involved in private equity training since 1990, he has delivered courses across the EMEA region. Most<br />
recently Garry authored and lead edited The Fundamentals of Private Equity and Venture Capital published by <strong>PEI</strong> <strong>Media</strong> Ltd.
