A one-day training course<br />
A practical one-day course for staff who inspect children’s playgrounds. It is<br />
designed for specialist staff and those who may inspect playgrounds along<br />
with other duties. It covers “Routine Visual” and “Operational Inspections”<br />
(EN1176-7).<br />
Child Accident Prevention Trust (CAPT) will award Certificates of Attendance.<br />

• Common Problems associated with playgrounds – A slide presentation<br />
• Law and Standards<br />
• Hierarchy of inspections<br />
• Forms and recording systems<br />
• Inspection methodology – equipment and ancillary items<br />
• Practical exercises at play areas (appropriate clothing needed)<br />
Tutor:<br />
Rob Wheway has over 30 years experience in children’s play. For 15 years<br />
he has carried out assessments and safety inspections of playgrounds for<br />
CAPT, ILAM, NPFA, RoSPA. His training courses combine expertise,<br />
practical knowledge and commonsense. He also specialises in operational<br />
and strategic management consultancy. He is an acknowledged expert,<br />
through observational and consultation research, in children’s play in the<br />
outdoor environment.<br />
