12UCDA03 FASHION AND CLOTHING PSYCHOLOGY
UNIT – I
Origin of fashion, definition of fashion, style and fad. Terms related to the fashion industry
such as boutique, collection, Mannequin, chic, classic, custom made, fashion, shows, trend,
high fashion etc.
UNIT - II
Reasons for fashion changes – psychological needs for fashion, development of personal identify,
social psychology of fashion, temporal variation in fashion and fabric. Role of costumes as a status
symbol, sex appeal and identify, fashion and season.
UNIT – III
Fashion industry – creation of fashion design – production – distribution – promotion related skills
in sketching, filling, collection, production including merchandising, buying, sewing, selling ability –
organization as a business.
UNIT – IV
Fashion Centers in Paris & in India. Designers in India – Ritu Beri, Rithu Kumar, Rohith Bal, J.J.
Vallaya, Manish Malhothra. Designers in Japan, China, America. List out some of the Fashion Forecasting
Industries all over the World.
UNIT – V
(a) Bandhani, Patola, Ikat techniques.
(b) Kalamkari.
(c) Wardrobe planning for children’s, women’s & men’s.
