Resource for Candidates:
List of Schools Offering 16 Semester Units of Remedial Pharmacy Education
In an effort to assist candidates seeking remedial pharmacy education required after 4 failed attempts at
the California Practice Standards and Jurisprudence Examination for Pharmacists (CPJE) or North
American Pharmacist Licensure Examination (NAPLEX), the board surveyed schools of pharmacy
accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) to identify schools offering
remedial pharmacy education. Of the schools surveyed in October 2012, the list below represents
schools that indicated they offer remedial education and wish to be listed on the board’s Web site.
Please be aware that there may be additional programs at other ACPE accredited schools that fit
California’s requirement for remedial education as required by California Business and Professions
Code section 4200.1 and the California Code of Regulation section 1725. In essence the required
education must: 1) Be comprised of at least 16 semester units in an ACPE accredited school of
pharmacy and 2) Require a transcript with units posted.
The board provides the following information as a resource to candidates seeking remedial pharmacy
education programs in order to complete the required 16 semester units. As this list was created in
October 2012, it will be periodically reviewed.
While the board provides this information as a resource, it is the candidate’s responsibility to confirm
that the program chosen complies with the California Business and Professions Code section 4200.1 and
the California Code of Regulation section 1725. (Please note that continuing education courses you may
take do not meet the requirements as outlined in statute and regulation.)
