In this submission, PIAC identified the key areas that it believes to be<br />
priority concerns for NSW consumers.<br />
Realising rights: submission to the National Human Rights<br />
Consultation (15 June 20<strong>09</strong>)<br />
PIAC identified the features of effective human rights protection and<br />
promotion that it considers necessary to build into any future human<br />
rights framework. PIAC advocated for a Human Rights Act to protect<br />
all of the rights set out in the ‘International Bill of Rights’ (Universal<br />
Declaration of Human Rights, International Covenant on Economic,<br />
Social and Cultural Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and<br />
Political Rights) as well as third generation rights as reflected in the<br />
South Africa Rights Charter.<br />

Our rights matter! The voices of those who are or have been<br />
homeless in Sydney. Submission to the National Consultation<br />
on Human Rights (15 June 20<strong>09</strong>)<br />
HPLS, in this submission, responded to the Australian Government’s<br />
announcement of a national consultation on human rights<br />
protection. In order to ensure the active involvement of homeless<br />
people in this process, HPLS held a series of consultation workshops<br />
that were conducted jointly with Milk Crate Theatre. The comments,<br />
ideas and stories HPLS received at these consultation events were<br />
included in HPLS submission.<br />
