Dr. Wong Kam-din Andy, Associate Professor of the<br />
Department of Building and Real Estate was one of<br />
the 47 candidates awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star<br />
this year. <strong>The</strong> 2006 Honours List from the HKSAR<br />
Government was published in the Government Gazette<br />
on 1 July 2006. <strong>The</strong> Chief Executive has accorded awards<br />
to 277 people in this year's Honours List.<br />

<strong>The</strong> award was in recognition of Dr. Wong’s long and<br />
meritorious public and community service, particularly<br />
in Eastern District. In 1991, Dr. Wong was appointed<br />
as Eastern District Appointed Councillor and was the<br />
youngest appointed in the history of Eastern District.<br />
During his service to the Council, he participated in, and<br />
contributing to committees and taskforces involving<br />
district housing, civil education and infrastructure<br />
developments, details of which are given in his personal<br />

Dr. Wong was appointed as a Member of Corruption<br />
Prevention Advisory Committee for Independent<br />
Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) in 2000, serving<br />
the Construction Panel, and was further appointed as<br />
the Chairman of the Construction Panel for the period<br />
2003 to December 2006. From 1998 to 2006, Dr.<br />
Wong served the HKSAR Government on a number of<br />
significant legislative committees relating to real estate<br />
and infrastructure development including the Town<br />
Planning Appeal Board, Transport Department Railway<br />
Development Hearing Panel and the Estate Agents<br />
Ordinance Appeal Panel.<br />
Dr. Wong’s research interests are in construction project<br />
management, contract administration and use of<br />
information technology in construction. He is dedicated<br />
to the principle of the <strong>University</strong>’s motto, “To learn and<br />
to apply, for the benefit of mankind.”
