[A similar pair in the "Cardinal" Collection sold for $13,225 at a Sydney auction in June 2002]{Page 46.1} 10,000 Lot 316 Lot 317 316 ** A A1 1970-75 Floral Coils 6c Sturt's Desert Rose vertical strip of 6, units three & four with the Magenta Printing (Flower Petals) Omitted BW #534cc (Pierron #936MCc), unmounted, Cat $12,000+ (£4000+) for used; unpriced mint. RPSofV Certificate (2011). The only recorded mint examples. [The ACSC states "One example with magenta printing omitted, used on piece cancelled at Sydney, has been recorded." That stamp is Ex John Sinfield: sold for $5750 at our auction of 26/1/2004. The entry continues "This error was previously listed and priced mint, but no evidence has been found for the existence of mint examples." This item proves the existence of mint stamps, and demands their reinstatement in the next edition.{Page 46.2} 10,000 The price will be forgotten, but the pleasure of ownership will endure.

A striking error. [The ACSC states that only twelve stamps with black printing completely omitted have been recorded. Sir Gawaine Baillie's similar - not identical - strip of 6 sold for $4025]{Page 46.3} 3,000 Lot 318 318 ** A A1 1971 Air Force Anniversary 6c with the Black Printing (Inscriptions and Vintage Aeroplane) Completely Omitted BW #558c (Pierron #978Mca), unmounted, Cat $4000 (£1700). With a normal stamp for comparison. Acquired for $3450 at our auction of 22/4/2006. [The ACSC states that only 20 stamps were affected. Sir Gawaine Baillie's example sold for $4600. [The black printing being omitted causes the white inscription '25c AUSTRALIA' to be omitted. The ACSC states that only five such strips can exist. The ACSC illustration is of #565ca, not #565cb as captioned. Sir Gawaine Baillie's single stamp sold for $1840. Tom Pierron's single stamp sold for £881]{Page 47.4} 3,000
