SIMATIC RF 300 for simple tasks
SIMATIC RF 300 in the version designed for
simple tasks is particularly suitable for
applications with few demands on speed or
large volumes of data. One particular
advantage: as first identification device in
the world, the low-end read/write device
(SLG) makes it possible to interface to IQ-
Sense. A well thought-out solution – with
exceptionally low-cost SLGs and IQ-Sense
interface module. SIMATIC RF 300 also
boasts user-friendly handling and programming.
Thanks to pole-independent
cabling, even installation costs are low.
Fast and reliable: SIMATIC RF 300
for sophisticated tasks
Do you sometimes need just a little something
more? SIMATIC RF 300 is also available
as high-performance system. This system impresses
with its ability to handle particularly
fast data transmission and large volumes of
data, enabling short machine cycle times for
a faster production flow. The disturbance resistance
capabilities of this system ensure reliable
data transmission, even under difficult
conditions. Low-overhead system interfacing
to S7-300, Profibus, Ethernet and non-
Siemens controllers also simplifies commissioning.

Pleasantly compact and
extremely rugged
SIMATIC RF 300 components are particularly
impressive due to their small, compact design.
Thanks to their size, they are easy to mount,
easy to integrate, and fit into tight spaces.
Some mobile data storage units (MDS) are
even designed for mounting on metal
surfaces. Extremely rugged: Mobile data
storage units (MDS) have protection
as high as IP67, read/write devices (SLG)
as high as IP65, and can be used even under
extreme conditions. Fail-safe transmission
with a high level of data integrity is ensured
even in the presence of contaminants or
when SLG and MDS are concealed by
non-metallic objects.
Maintenance-free mobile
data storage
The mobile data storage unit is battery-free,
maintenance-free and with virtually unlimited
rewrite capability. The data and energy
required are transferred from SLG to MDS on
the globally authorized ISM radio frequency
of 13.56 megahertz. An MDS can be mounted
on the workpiece itself or on the transport
container. Its memory capacity extends from
a few bytes to 64K bytes for the high-performance
version, making it possible to implement
both centralized and distributed identification
solutions.
Specialist for track-bound
conveyor systems
Simple and particularly low-cost or highperformance:
Whichever version you choose,
the SIMATIC RF 300 RFID (Radio Frequency
Identification) system has a reading distance
that is within the local range. It is therefore
suitable primarily for controlling the material
flow in applications for track-bound assembly
lines in industrial production facilities. Reading
and writing are done on a non-contact basis
over an air interface.
Easy, low-overhead
integration
SIMATIC RF 300 commissioning and fault
diagnostics are extremely simple – this
system’s extensive diagnostic functions see
to that. Thanks to the industry standard
M12 connector concept, the plug-and-socket
connections conform to those on other automation
components, such as Ecofast and
SIMATIC. That means low installation costs.
And best of all, SIMATIC RF 300 has Totally
Integrated Automation capability, allowing
easy, low-overhead, cost-efficient integration
in the SIMATIC world.
