2. Example:<br />

In a mechanical handling facility multi-directional radial loads are applied to the rod end. These loads are the same as<br />

shown in illustration 4, page 15. Four separate loads F r, i with the four appropriate time components have been substituted<br />

as shown below:<br />

F r1 = 2 kN, t 1 = 50%; F r2 = 4 kN, t 2 = 16%; F r3 = 2,4 kN, t 3 = 24%; F r4 = 1 kN, t 4 = 10%;<br />

Additionally the rod end is subjected to a constant axial load F a = 0,65 kN<br />

Further operating conditions: max. angle ß = 30º; oscillation frequency f = 60/min.; max. temperature 70ºC<br />

1. Initial selection of Rod End<br />

a) Type of As regular lubrication is not possible due to poor accessibility a maintenance free type must be<br />

bearing used. Rod Ends GASW, GAXSW, GARSW, GAOW could be suitable, but the following series have<br />

to be ruled out.<br />

- GAOW - these Rod Ends are only suitable for restricted movement.<br />

- GARSW - because the working environment is not corrosive.<br />

This leaves the size of the male thread version of type GASW, GAXS to be established.<br />

b) Size b 0 ) mean and equivalent bearing load [formula 3 + 4 + table 2]<br />
