Kaiser-Pilling Instruments 

Now, instruments designed specifically for thoracoscopy that 

deliver the versatility you require and the feel to which you 

are accustomed. 

These Thoracoscopy Instruments were designed by Pilling in 

conjunction with Larry R. Kaiser, M.D., of the University of 

Pennsylvania. Combining these unique, new instruments with 

a “No-Cannula” technique provides you with a versitility not 

found before in thoracoscopy procedures. 

Elimination of cannulas allows use of traditional patterns of 

instruments that have been elongated and shaped to meet the 

special needs of the thoracoscopist. These new dimensioned 

instruments give you the familiar feel, weight, and balance to 

which you are accustomed. This means you can rely on the 

practiced hand movements used in open procedures. The 

accessories extend your “reach” even further. 

Other advantages of the “No-Cannula” procedure using 

these instruments are: 

• Reduced patient costs since fewer cannulas are required 

• Palpation of lesions is permitted 

• Number of incisions minimized as instrument length and 

shape permit access to all areas of the thoracic cavity
