Course Description<br />
<strong>Computer</strong> <strong>Science</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Information</strong> Systems professionals spend a significant amount<br />
of time produc<strong>in</strong>g written documents of various k<strong>in</strong>ds. <strong>CSE</strong>/<strong>ISE</strong> <strong>300</strong> gives students<br />
one credit for show<strong>in</strong>g that they can write well enough <strong>in</strong> English to be practic<strong>in</strong>g<br />
professionals. A student must pass <strong>CSE</strong> <strong>300</strong> or <strong>ISE</strong> <strong>300</strong>, respectively, to satisfy the<br />
writ<strong>in</strong>g proficiency requirement for <strong>CSE</strong>/<strong>ISE</strong> majors.<br />
Pre-Requisite: WRT 102; <strong>CSE</strong> or <strong>ISE</strong> major, U3 or U4 St<strong>and</strong><strong>in</strong>g<br />
Course Objectives<br />
Develop technical writ<strong>in</strong>g skills through completion of a set of writ<strong>in</strong>g assignments.<br />
The goal is to write at a level that would be acceptable <strong>in</strong> an <strong>in</strong>dustrial sett<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

Evaluation<br />
80% <strong>Writ<strong>in</strong>g</strong> assignments: There will be 4 assignments worth a total of 80%. No<br />
late assignments will be accepted.<br />
20% Class participation <strong>and</strong> exercises: No more than 2 unexcused absence are<br />
allowed. There will be 2 writ<strong>in</strong>g exercises.<br />
Academic Integrity<br />
All submitted work must be your own. In particular, after read<strong>in</strong>g the literature, <strong>in</strong><br />
your submitted work, you must summarize the materials us<strong>in</strong>g your own words.<br />
Each student must pursue his or her academic goals honestly <strong>and</strong> be personally<br />
accountable for all submitted work. Represent<strong>in</strong>g another person's work as your own<br />
is always wrong. Any suspected <strong>in</strong>stance of academic dishonesty will be reported to<br />
