Civil Aerospace<br />
Boe<strong>in</strong>g 787 Dreaml<strong>in</strong>er – At our new Crosspo<strong>in</strong>te, Virg<strong>in</strong>ia, advanced manufactur<strong>in</strong>g plant, <strong>Rolls</strong>-<strong>Royce</strong><br />
produces key eng<strong>in</strong>e components for its Trent 1000 eng<strong>in</strong>e that powers <strong>the</strong> Boe<strong>in</strong>g 787, <strong>the</strong> world’s most<br />
modern and fuel efficient airl<strong>in</strong>er.<br />
Cessna Citation Ten – <strong>Rolls</strong>-<strong>Royce</strong> manufactures all <strong>the</strong> AE family of eng<strong>in</strong>es at our Indianapolis facility,<br />
<strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> eng<strong>in</strong>es used to power <strong>the</strong> top-of-<strong>the</strong>-l<strong>in</strong>e Cessna Citation Ten.<br />
Gulfstream G650 – <strong>Rolls</strong>-<strong>Royce</strong> sources eng<strong>in</strong>e components from across <strong>the</strong> <strong>United</strong> <strong>States</strong> for one of <strong>the</strong><br />
world’s largest and fastest bus<strong>in</strong>ess jets.<br />
Defense Aerospace<br />
C-130, V-22, Global Hawk, Army Kiowa Warrior Helicopter, Jo<strong>in</strong>t Strike Fighter LiftSystem – At our<br />
Indianapolis facility, <strong>Rolls</strong>-<strong>Royce</strong> manufactures eng<strong>in</strong>es for some of <strong>the</strong> most important military aircraft <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />
world, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> C-130 military transport aircraft; <strong>the</strong> V-22 Osprey tilt rotor aircraft; <strong>the</strong> Global Hawk<br />
unmanned aerial vehicle; <strong>the</strong> Army Kiowa Warrior Helicopter and <strong>the</strong> Jo<strong>in</strong>t Strike Fighter. The <strong>Rolls</strong>-<strong>Royce</strong><br />
LiftSystem is designed for use on F-35 Jo<strong>in</strong>t Strike Fighter, and <strong>Rolls</strong>-<strong>Royce</strong> is <strong>the</strong> only company <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> world<br />
to possess this unique technology and capability.<br />
Research & Development (R&D) - <strong>Rolls</strong>-<strong>Royce</strong> spent $1.4 billion* (£908 million) on R&D <strong>in</strong> 2011. At our<br />
Indianapolis-based LibertyWorks® facility, <strong>Rolls</strong>-<strong>Royce</strong> is conduct<strong>in</strong>g lead<strong>in</strong>g-edge research on <strong>the</strong> next<br />
generation of variable cycle eng<strong>in</strong>es.
Mar<strong>in</strong>e<br />
Propellers – <strong>Rolls</strong>-<strong>Royce</strong> manufactures propellers for all U.S. Naval surface combatant ships and Virg<strong>in</strong>ia class<br />
fast-attack submar<strong>in</strong>es at our Pascagoula, Mississippi, and Walpole, Massachusetts, facilities.<br />
Ma<strong>in</strong> Propulsion Systems – <strong>Rolls</strong>-<strong>Royce</strong> delivers eng<strong>in</strong>e components from across <strong>the</strong> <strong>United</strong> <strong>States</strong> for <strong>the</strong><br />
U.S. Navy’s new 600-foot-long DDG 1000 destroyer and provides <strong>the</strong> MT30 Mar<strong>in</strong>e Gas Turb<strong>in</strong>e for <strong>the</strong> U.S.<br />
Navy’s Littoral Combat Ship.<br />
Energy<br />
Compressor Systems – <strong>Rolls</strong>-<strong>Royce</strong> manufactures oil and gas pipel<strong>in</strong>e compressors at our Mount Vernon,<br />
Ohio, plant.<br />
Fuel Cells – <strong>Rolls</strong>-<strong>Royce</strong> is conduct<strong>in</strong>g research and development on next-generation fuel cell technology at<br />
our Canton, Ohio, facility.<br />
Power Generation – <strong>Rolls</strong>-<strong>Royce</strong> produces sophisticated power systems for <strong>in</strong>dustry and <strong>the</strong> military at our<br />
Indianapolis plant, and assembles <strong>in</strong>dustrial gas turb<strong>in</strong>es at our Mount Vernon facility.<br />
Civil Nuclear – <strong>Rolls</strong>-<strong>Royce</strong> produces plant process computers for nuclear power plants at our Huntsville,<br />
Alabama, and Chattanooga, Tennessee, facilities. The computers are <strong>in</strong> use at 70 of <strong>the</strong> 104 U.S. nuclear<br />
power plants, as well as plants around <strong>the</strong> world.<br />
Invest<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> America<br />
<strong>Rolls</strong>-<strong>Royce</strong> believes that American workers can <strong>in</strong>novate and thrive <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>in</strong>ternational marketplace, and <strong>the</strong> company is<br />
<strong>in</strong>vest<strong>in</strong>g heavily <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>United</strong> <strong>States</strong>. To help fulfill more than $96 billion <strong>in</strong> orders, 1 our recent capital <strong>in</strong>vestments <strong>in</strong>clude:<br />
Virg<strong>in</strong>ia<br />
At <strong>Rolls</strong>-<strong>Royce</strong>’s sprawl<strong>in</strong>g, new Crosspo<strong>in</strong>te facility near Richmond, workers build precision-eng<strong>in</strong>eered fan<br />
discs and o<strong>the</strong>r eng<strong>in</strong>e parts for some of <strong>the</strong> most advanced aircraft <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> world, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> Boe<strong>in</strong>g 787.<br />
<strong>Rolls</strong>-<strong>Royce</strong> already has created 150 new high-tech jobs <strong>in</strong> Virg<strong>in</strong>ia, with more jobs expected <strong>in</strong> com<strong>in</strong>g years.<br />
The company made an <strong>in</strong>itial $170 million capital <strong>in</strong>vestment, and we will make additional <strong>in</strong>vestments at<br />
Crosspo<strong>in</strong>te <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> near future. Crosspo<strong>in</strong>te’s advanced manufactur<strong>in</strong>g and research campus is thriv<strong>in</strong>g based<br />
upon partnerships critical to <strong>the</strong> future of American jobs and <strong>the</strong> economy. These <strong>Rolls</strong>-<strong>Royce</strong> partners <strong>in</strong>clude<br />
local governments, Virg<strong>in</strong>ia’s lead<strong>in</strong>g colleges and universities and major corporations.<br />
Mississippi<br />
<strong>Rolls</strong>-<strong>Royce</strong> is build<strong>in</strong>g a new $50 million jet eng<strong>in</strong>e test center <strong>in</strong> Mississippi. Located at our Outdoor Jet<br />
Eng<strong>in</strong>e Test Facility at NASA’s John C. Stennis Space Center <strong>in</strong> Hancock County, this second test stand is<br />
expected to create 35 new jobs. Already, more than 150 American workers are employed at three <strong>Rolls</strong>-<strong>Royce</strong><br />
facilities <strong>in</strong> Mississippi.<br />
Indiana<br />
In Indianapolis, <strong>the</strong> company has <strong>in</strong>vested more than $22 million <strong>in</strong> a new state-of-<strong>the</strong>-art office complex <strong>in</strong><br />
downtown Indianapolis. The sleek offices will house 2,500 eng<strong>in</strong>eers and professional staff; ano<strong>the</strong>r 2,000<br />
employees work <strong>in</strong> our o<strong>the</strong>r Indiana facilities.<br />
Also <strong>in</strong> Indianapolis, <strong>in</strong> March 2012, <strong>the</strong> company announced a $42 million new advanced manufactur<strong>in</strong>g<br />
facility to build eng<strong>in</strong>e components for <strong>the</strong> company’s Trent XWB, Trent 1000, AE Series and T56 eng<strong>in</strong>es.<br />
