1.1 Local Authority Housing<br />
Local Authority Social & Affordable Housing<br />
The Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government<br />
funds the Social Housing Investment Programme (SHIP).<br />
<strong>Roscommon</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Council</strong> was notified of a capital housing<br />
allocation of €600,000 to cover expenditure under the 2012 Housing<br />
Programme. A further allocation of €450,000 was notified in August<br />
2012 to facilitate acquisition of three properties in areas where the<br />
<strong>Council</strong> consider it represents value for money and where there is a<br />
demand for Social Housing.<br />
It is anticipated that an allocation of approximately €500,000 may be<br />
made in <strong>2013</strong> to cover the cost of an infill scheme of two houses at<br />
Abbey Court, <strong>Roscommon</strong> and some possible acquisitions. A similar<br />
or reduced level of allocation is expected for 2014 and 2015.<br />
Traveller Accommodation<br />
The provision of Traveller Accommodation is funded by way of a Capital<br />
Allocation from the Department of the Environment, Community and<br />
Local Government. Work has commenced on the provision of three<br />
additional units of accommodation at Torpan Beg and is expected<br />
to be completed in early <strong>2013</strong>. Phase 2 of the proposal for works at<br />
Torpan Beg to provide extensions to a number of housing units has<br />
been submitted to the DECLG for consideration. The proposed work<br />
programme under Traveller accommodation reflects proposals under<br />
the Traveller accommodation programme 2009 – <strong>2013</strong>.<br />
Voluntary Housing<br />
Croghan Enterprise Company Limited - Voluntary Housing Group<br />
A development of 10 housing units at Croghan, Boyle is being<br />
provided by Croghan Enterprises Ltd with an anticipated completion<br />
date in early <strong>2013</strong>.<br />

The Roscara Housing Association Limited<br />
Construction of a seven unit scheme at Ardsallaghmore, <strong>Roscommon</strong><br />
Town was completed in 2012. The site was provided by the <strong>Council</strong>.<br />
A further scheme at Lisroyne, Strokestown, commenced in 2012<br />
providing an additional 6 no. units of accommodation for persons with<br />
specialised needs and 1 no. caretaker.<br />
Following a request from the DECLG for proposals for further projects<br />
to be delivered in 2012 <strong>Roscommon</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Council</strong> received sanction<br />
to fund the acquisition and refurbishment of a house by Roscara<br />
Housing Association in <strong>Roscommon</strong> town to provide 3 units of<br />
accommodation for persons with special needs.<br />
