Staff in both wards are commended for achieving an overall high<br />

compliance score in this st<strong>and</strong>ard. Ward 1 achieved full compliance in<br />

materials <strong>and</strong> equipment used for cleaning.<br />

H<strong>and</strong> washing sinks, fixtures <strong>and</strong> fittings <strong>and</strong> consumables in both<br />

wards were clean, working <strong>and</strong> in a good state of repair (Picture 4). In<br />

Ward 1, Room 11 lobby, an opened bottle of chlorhexidine was stored<br />

on the sink <strong>and</strong> in Ward 5 paper labels were noted on taps throughout<br />

the ward.<br />

In both wards there were no alcohol gel dispensers <strong>and</strong> posters<br />

present at the entrance/exit to the ward. At the feedback session<br />

representatives from the Infection Prevention <strong>and</strong> Control team advised<br />

that this was being addressed.<br />

Personal protective equipment (PPE) was widely available throughout<br />

both wards however in Ward 1, there were no disposable aprons in one<br />

of the portable PPE dispensers. In both wards eye protection, although<br />
