<strong>Minimum</strong> <strong>St<strong>and</strong>ards</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Dental</strong> <strong>Care</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Treatment</strong><br />

• The Oral Health Strategy 1 aims to close the oral health gap with our neighbours in the rest of<br />

the United Kingdom <strong>and</strong> to improve the quality of life <strong>for</strong> all our people by:<br />

• Improving the oral health of the Northern Irel<strong>and</strong> population;<br />

• Reducing the inequalities in oral health within our society.<br />

• The strategy sets out a series of interlinked recommendations to achieve these aims. Oral<br />

health professionals are required to focus more on prevention, to link with other<br />

complementary health promotion programmes in order to maximise efficiency <strong>and</strong> to further<br />

develop partnerships with those outside the health sector such as schools, local councils <strong>and</strong><br />

community groups.<br />
