There are two important notices coming home to you today. Please
take time to read them, and where necessary, return them with the
information that we need.
1. Parents of senior children: teachers urgently need your consent for
children to take part in the Food for Thought supermarket visits.
2. All families will receive a very important notice about next week's paid
teachers union meeting (TUESDAY, 19TH MARCH). Because all the
teachers will attend this important meeting during school time, normal
school programmes will not be running. Children will be supervised as a
group by myself, and a few other support staff. On the notice you are
encouraged pick your children up at 1.00 pm or give them
permission to walk home at that time. Please let us know your
decision by returning the notice to school ASAP!

Meet the Current Board of Trustees
Introducing Ian Soffe
I'm a parent of three kids who were educated at Oranga between
2002 and 2011. While they are now on to high and intermediate
schools, I am proud of the academic grounding they got at Oranga,
the extra-mural experiences they had, and the friends, community and culture they
gained and joined in.
Primary school is the place where our nation's next generation get their first major
chance to engage with learning and with life, so I've been both keen and privileged to
participate on the school BoT during many of those years, with a view to trying to
ensure that all of our young community get the best possible start, make the most of
their chances, and get the best possible education to set them on the path to great
opportunities and ambitions.
The board and the staff have faced some difficult challenges at times in aiming to
always deliver excellent results, but I am proud of the efforts we have made
together, many of the results achieved, and and the positive purpose and attitude
that unites us in the BoT forum.
I strongly encourage you all to consider coming to at least one board meeting
(these are public, not closed), to see how the team attempts to guide and
monitor the school to excellent results for and by our kids - you and your ideas
are welcome.
