In the spirit of keeping our mission fresh,
Riverside has embarked upon a venture which will
guide our activities over the next few years. I want to
thank all of you who participated.. The final tallying
of the results is not complete, but there were two
organizational themes that rose to the top. One is
reinventing the work that people do at One Cottage
Street. The other is identifying alternative financial
means to support our mission.
To begin tackling the first objective, Riverside has
engaged three master’s level Isenberg School of
Management interns who will dedicate their entire final semester to this project.
The second theme of enriching our financial resources will take the form of a Major Gifts
campaign. The specifics of this fund drive are unclear with the target of it being finalized this
spring.
The care and advocacy that the community gives to Riverside may be measured in our every
day experiences: the excitement of learning, the delight in friendships, the pride of being a part
of something bigger than ourselves, to name a few. As the year unfolds we hope that you will
join us in these two ventures.
Riverside Industries,
Receives Highest Marks
for the 10th consecutive time
Riverside Industries, Inc. received the highest possible recognition, (three-year accreditation)
from the international Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). This
survey marks the tenth consecutive time Riverside has received this award.
The CARF team highlighted several areas in which Riverside excels. Among some of the noted
strengths were the high level of satisfaction with the services that Riverside’s committed staff
provides; the plethora of art, artists, and exhibitions in our physical space and surrounding community
arenas; our dedicated and caring board, management and employees; our commitment to
community integration; our well-maintained 160,000 square foot historic building.
Deborah Thomas, Riverside’s President, stated that the evaluation process is extensive. It
includes professional surveyors’ meetings with the people we support, employees, business
partners, funding sources, families, and guardians affiliated with Riverside. The agency is evaluated
from many different perspectives in order to determine the quality of service the agency
provides. Thomas added, “Riverside was awarded this distinction because of the people who give
so generously of themselves each and every day. I’m pleased that their dedication and hard work
have been recognized and applauded by an internationally renowned certification organization.”
