2004 Alliance One Network joined to provide additional ATM locations. Accel Members Financial Management Program was added. Share Draft images became available through C.U.@Home. The Council Bluffs Branch opened. SAC Federal Credit Union was awarded the Millard Business Association Business of the Year. 2005 The Budget Smart software was added to Accel Members Financial Management program. The Maple Branch was opened at 171st and Maple Street in Omaha. The C.U. now has 10 locations. Business loans and services were added. The C.U. was showcased in the 2005 Omaha Book. 2006 The new Offutt Branch opened. New audio response system, C.U. By Phone, was introduced. The C.U. partnered with Centennial Lending to offer Residential Construction Loans. The C.U. hosted an exhibit on the history of U.S. currency, on loan from the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. SAC Federal Credit Union celebrated 60 years of service. 64 TH ANNUAL MEETING MINUTES Gail L. DeBoer, President of SAC Federal Credit Union, welcomed those in attendance and led the Pledge of Allegiance. The business meeting was called to order at 7:26 p.m. It was determined that a quorum was present with more than 15 members in attendance. James E. Rockwood, Chairman of the SAC Federal Credit Union Board of Directors, then introduced the following Board of Directors and Supervisory Committee members: Paul E. Norton, Chairman Emeritus (unable to attend); Douglas A. Frost, Director Emeritus; Patrick L. Jones, 1st Vice Chairman; William E. Hetzler, 2nd Vice Chairman; Marilyn Ogorzaly, Secretary; Joceslyn Boyd, Treasurer; Jean Howard, Director; Dr. Julia Cronin-Gilmore, Director; John Goble, Director; and Victor LaPuma, Director (unable to attend). The following Supervisory Committee members were introduced: Steven L. Doty, Chairman; Ursula F. Hill, Secretary; Jerry Needham, Member; Steve Williamson, Member; Garrett A. Karthauser, Alternate Member; and John Christensen, serving as the Internal Auditor for the Supervisory Committee. The following Committee members were introduced: Randolph M. Scott, Member; and J. Denise Seaman, Member. The President, Gail L. DeBoer, then introduced the following Senior Managers and other staff members: Steven A. Ames, SVP/Finance; Robin Larsen, SVP/Operations; Bruce C. Schroeder, SVP/Loans; Amy J. Thomas, SVP/Human Resources & Marketing; and Jamie Graves, Executive Assistant. The following Credit Union Volunteer Service Award Recipients were announced and presented with a pin: Board Member, Victor LaPuma—10 years (unable to attend); Committee Member, Randolph M. Scott—5 years. The Chairman announced that the Minutes of the 63rd Annual Meeting were printed in the Annual Report provided to each member in attendance. A motion was made and a second to approve the minutes as printed. Motion carried. The Chairman announced that the Chairman’s Report was printed in the Annual Report. A motion was made and a second to accept the Chairman’s Report as printed. Motion carried. The Chairman announced that the President’s Report was printed in the Annual Report. A motion was October 29, 2010 made and a second to accept the President’s Report as printed. Motion carried. The Chairman announced that the Treasurer’s Report was printed in the Annual Report. A motion was made and a second to accept the Treasurer’s Report as printed. Motion carried. The Chairman announced that the Supervisory Committee Report was printed in the Annual Report. A motion was made and a second to accept the Supervisory Committee’s Report as printed. Motion carried. The President presented a brief oral Credit Union update. Unfinished business: None. New business other than elections: None. As directed in the Bylaws, voting for election of the Board of Directors was conducted at eight Credit Union locations, immediately prior to the Annual Meeting and by absentee ballot. The Chairman expressed appreciation to the Nominating Committee: Joceslyn Boyd, Jean Howard, Patrick Jones, Victor LaPuma, and Marilyn Ogorzaly. The Chairman thanked the tellers for the counting of the ballots: John Christensen, Internal Auditor, and election teller assistants Katherine Kelly, Crissy Hayes, Peggy Woltman, Margie Johnson and Bennie Slaton. The members running for the Board of Directors were introduced. They were Dr. Julia Cronin-Gilmore, John Goble, William E. Hetzler, and James E. Rockwood. The Chairman called upon Bennie Slaton for the election results. The following members, in alphabetical order, were elected to the Board of Directors for 3-year terms: Dr. Julia Cronin-Gilmore, John Goble and James Rockwood. The following member was elected to the Board of directors for a 1-year term: William E. Hetzler. A motion was made and a second to retain the current ballots for one year. Motion carried. The Chairman expressed his appreciation to the Annual Meeting Committee and to the employees that assisted. NAFCU CEO OF THE YEAR Gail L. DeBoer, President of SAC Federal Credit Union, was chosen as CEO of the Year by the National Association of Federal Credit Unions (NAFCU). DeBoer was honored as a NAFCU’s 2011 Annual Awards Competition winner in conjunction with NAFCU’s 44th Annual Conference in San Francisco, June 28 – July 2. 2007 The Board of Directors announced Gail DeBoer as President of SAC Federal Credit Union. The Shadow Lake Branch opened inside Hy-Vee at Shadow Lake Towne Center in Papillion. The South Omaha Branch opened at 24th & L Street. The Annual Awards Competition named the CEO of the Year in two credit union assetsize categories. DeBoer was a winner among credit unions with $150 million or more in assets. Annual Awards Competition winners were honored during the Awards Ceremony and Luncheon June 30 at NAFCU’s 44th Annual Conference & Exhibition and profiled in an issue of The Federal Credit Union magazine. The national award recognizes the accomplishments of a credit union’s chief executive officer – the individual’s achievements, dedication, and expertise. DeBoer has excelled in her role as CEO for SAC FCU since taking her position in 2007. She has devoted energy to re-establishing SAC FCU as a viable contender with the biggest banks in the Omaha metro area, and in 2010 SAC FCU attained that goal and became the largest local credit union in the state, growing assets by more than 20 percent year over year. This success has allowed SAC FCU to actively impact the Omaha community through various members and community outreach programs. DeBoer’s energy has also gone into strengthening the community and developing others, which SAC FCU conveys through their community culture and business model. SAC FCU had successfully launched four new branches in 2010, one being in an economically depressed neighborhood in North Omaha on Ames Avenue, which has become a hallmark and symbol for growth in this community. 2008 SAC FCU opened three new instore locations: Council Bluffs Super Saver, Millard Super Saver, and Midtown Hy-Vee. “I have had the pleasure of working with Gail for three years, so I’ve had the opportunity to watch her remarkable passion and commitment and the business transformation that has resulted at SAC FCU through her leadership. Their business growth… remarkable by any measure…is only rivaled by the culture of passion for members, associates and the greater community. SAC FCU is a force, and Gail has modeled this through her leadership,” said Roger Fransecky, Ph.D, CEO and Founder of the global management consulting and leadership development firm, The Apogee Group, Inc. Through her hard work and dedication, DeBoer’s efforts contribute to the overall credit union community and its members, and to the greater Omaha community.
