your interest in Archbishop
Mitty Summer School. Our summer
school offers an exciting and diverse curriculum
aimed at enhancing any student’s education. We
offer academic courses for students entering either
junior high or high school. Academic classes are
designed for students wishing to improve their academic
standing or for those wanting to accelerate
their present course of study. With our knowledgeable
and experienced instructors along with the
depth and variety of our
courses, AMHS has created
a summer school program
that is second to none. We

Academic Courses
June 16 – July 24, 2014

Grades 7-12

Courses
Our academic courses provide students with an opportunity
to receive 5 or 10 high school credits, depending on the length
of the class. Because of the impacted nature of summer school,
parents and students should be aware of the accelerated pace
at which the academic courses are taught. In order to take
any of the academic courses, a student needs to be at least
entering the 9th grade in the fall; the only exceptions are
the Pre-Algebra and Algebra I courses. We encourage students
and parents to call the Summer School office regarding any
questions related to course credit, placement, or content. The
course directory is as follows:
• Algebra I*
• Pre-Algebra*#
• Algebra II
• Spanish II
• Biology
• Trigonometry**
• Chemistry
• US History
• Contemporary Authors • World History
• Geometry
*These courses are offered to 7th and 8th graders.
**One semester only. Class runs from 8 to 11 a.m. for the first 4 weeks.
#Please note that the Pre-Algebra is classified as an enrichment course
and students who take this class will not receive high school credit.
Transcripts
Non-Archbishop Mitty students will have the opportunity to
request the forwarding of Archbishop Mitty Summer School
academic transcripts to either his or her home or a school of
choice. When registering online, please complete the transcript
request section fully and accurately to ensure that the transcript
has the student’s legal name and correct forwarding address.
Transcripts will be sent during the first week in August.
Attendance Policy
Consistent attendance is integral to achieving success in our
program. Because courses move at an accelerated pace with
each day representing approximately 1 week, students are not
allowed to miss more than three days during the entire six-week
period and no more than two in any one semester. Additionally,
students must be present for the final on the last day of each
semester. Any student exceeding the maximum absent days
will be immediately dropped from the course and not
allowed to return. There are no refunds for dropped students
regardless of the amount of school days remaining. Further
details about leaving school early and being tardy will be sent
to students and parents after registration.
Add/Drop Procedure
Classes must be dropped on or before June 1st. After this
date, refunds will not be given regardless of the reason.
Refund requests for a dropped class need to be received via
email before 11:59 p.m. on June 1st and will only include
tuition. Registration fees are non-refundable. Please send any
refund request to summer@mitty.com. Classes can be
added up to the first day of school.

Books and School Supplies
Students are responsible for purchasing the books and supplies
for their classes. Detailed information about books and vendors
will be sent out once students have registered.
Registration
Online registration begins on March 1st. Please make sure
that when registering your student, information is completed
thoroughly and accurately as transcripts are derived from
these data fields.
Impacted Courses
Many of our courses, such as Chemistry, Biology and
Geometry, are in high demand. A waiting list will be created
once courses are full. If space becomes available, students
will be contacted by phone by the Summer School Office.

Summer School may speak with a school representative at
408-342-4200, ✆Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from
February 1st – March 31st between the hours of 8:00 a.m.
and 11:00 a.m. After March 31st a school representative
will be available weekdays between the hours of 8:00 a.m.
and 11:00 a.m.

variety of academic and tech camps such as:
