This cl<strong>as</strong>s will cover many b<strong>as</strong>ics <strong>of</strong> Marketing and<br />

Advertising directly targeted <strong>to</strong>wards <strong>the</strong> tat<strong>to</strong>o and<br />

piercing industry. How do you keep clients coming<br />

back? How do you compete with o<strong>the</strong>r local studios?<br />

How does your studio stand out from <strong>the</strong> rest <strong>of</strong> your<br />

competition? These questions will be addressed<br />

while also discussing numerous ways <strong>to</strong> help bring<br />

extra money and new business in<strong>to</strong> your studio.<br />

ana<strong>to</strong>my and healing; mechanism and role <strong>of</strong><br />

inflammation, infection and scar formation; ana<strong>to</strong>my<br />

and possible complications <strong>of</strong> riskier piercings.<br />

Dos, Don’ts, and Misconceptions<br />

Facilita<strong>to</strong>rs: Ed Chavarria & Sarv<strong>as</strong> Berry<br />

This round table will be set up <strong>to</strong> discuss different<br />

<strong>as</strong>pects <strong>of</strong> guest spotting including but not limited <strong>to</strong><br />

communication with shop owners, do’s and don’ts,<br />

proper etiquette when at a host shop, and all o<strong>the</strong>r<br />

<strong>as</strong>pects <strong>of</strong> being away from your own studio.<br />

Troubleshooting and Scars<br />

Instruc<strong>to</strong>rs: Didier Suarez and Bethra Szumski<br />

These two cl<strong>as</strong>ses have been combined <strong>to</strong> <strong>of</strong>fer a<br />

comprehensive look at how <strong>to</strong> <strong>as</strong>sess issues with<br />

healing piercings and minimize tissue trauma. A<br />

strong emph<strong>as</strong>is is placed on how <strong>to</strong> talk with clients<br />

about <strong>the</strong>ir concerns and symp<strong>to</strong>ms without crossing<br />

over in<strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> realm <strong>of</strong> medical diagnosis.<br />

CPR<br />

Instruc<strong>to</strong>rs: Red Cross<br />

Recognizing and caring for breathing and cardiac<br />

emergencies in adults, handling emergency situations<br />

until advanced medical help can take over. Adult<br />

CPR and b<strong>as</strong>ic precautions for pr<strong>event</strong>ing dise<strong>as</strong>e<br />

transmission. Required annually <strong>to</strong> maintain <strong>APP</strong><br />

membership.<br />

3:00-4:00<br />

Roundtable Discussion: Tips and Tricks<br />

Facilita<strong>to</strong>rs: Julia Grow and Courtney Sisler<br />

This discussion will cover some non-traditional<br />

approaches <strong>to</strong> common difficulties with <strong>to</strong>pic<br />

body piercings. Piercers can share <strong>the</strong>ir ide<strong>as</strong> on<br />

approaching b<strong>as</strong>ic/intermediate piercings and how<br />

<strong>the</strong>ir method h<strong>as</strong> given <strong>the</strong>m good results.<br />

Developing Curriculum for an Apprentice<br />

While learning a trade through an apprenticeship<br />

is very different from learning in a school, it is<br />

vital for someone taking on an apprentice <strong>to</strong> have<br />
