The tour will explore Cranbrook’s Arts and Crafts<br />
heritage, including Cranbrook House, the Booths’ manor house<br />
(Albert Kahn, 1907–20), the Greek Theatre (Marcus Burrowes,<br />
1915), and Christ Church Cranbrook (Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue<br />
Associates and Oscar H. Murray, 1924–28). The last stop will be<br />
the newest addition to the campus, the Art Museum’s Collection<br />
Wing (SmithGroup, 2011) where participants will view a selection <strong>of</strong><br />
architectural drawings from Cranbrook’s campus-wide collections.<br />

A brief tour <strong>of</strong> the Cranbrook Campus focusing on Eliel<br />
Saarinen’s work at Cranbrook, including Cranbrook School “for boys”<br />
(c. 1926–29), the meticulously restored Saarinen House (1928–30),<br />
and the Saarinen family’s American masterwork, Cranbrook<br />
Kingswood School, “for girls” (1929–32). The last stop will be the<br />
newest addition to the campus, the Art Museum’s Collection Wing<br />
(SmithGroup, 2011) where participants will view a selection <strong>of</strong><br />

This tour will examine four <strong>of</strong> the contemporary buildings<br />
constructed at Cranbrook during the last two decades: Peter<br />
Rose’s Vlasic Family Early Childhood Learning Center (1996), Steven<br />
Holl’s addition to Cranbrook Institute <strong>of</strong> Science (1998), Tod Williams<br />
and Billie Tsien’s Williams Natatorium (1999), and Rafael Moneo’s<br />
New Studios Building (2002). The last stop will be the newest addition<br />
