Independent Schools Careers Organisation…
On Monday 8 th and Tuesday 9 th October Upper V attended their Independent Schools Career Organisation (ISCO)
interviews with trained careers advisers. ISCO is an organisation that provides career advice and guidance for
students in school and up to the age of 23. The interview was very helpful in guiding us to suitable A level choices
and possible career ideas.
We discussed the personal profiles that have been created through the psychometric tests we took previously. This
was designed to highlight our strengths and aptitudes and gave us an idea as to what professions we might be best
suited. The process so far has been very interesting with more than a few surprising results as some girls showed
strengths they may not have expected. We will discover more about potential career options as we continue through
the process. Online readers click here: http://www.isco.org.uk/
Old Tools Wanted…
The Parents' Committee has recently started an allotment in the grounds, but we need help to keep it going. We are
looking for donations of tools, especially large spades and forks, also any spare vegetable plants at any time of year.
If anyone is interested in being involved please let us know.
We also are fortunate to have some fantastic apple and pear trees in the Orchard. Their
fruit is completely organic and we usually sell it in the playground during the Michaelmas
term, along with homemade crumbles and jam. The timing varies due to the weather so
please support us when you see us!.
For more info please contact Jacqui Szlachetko or Dymphna Kerr via the school office.
Ealing Borough Cross Country – Round 1…
Last Thursday, 33 Lower II and Upper II girls combined with 18 Form III, Lower
VI and Upper VI girls participated in the first series of the Ealing Borough Cross
Country Championships. Girls were outstanding in their efforts and
commitment and there were some tremendous individual performances. A
noteworthy performance was Anna Szyszko (Upper IV Alpha) who finished with
a bronze medal and has been put forward for the London Youth Games. I hope
that in the next round, on Wednesday 17 th October, girls can enhance their
performances and potentially more girls could be selected.
Did St Augustine’s beat the world marathon time of 2 hours 3 minutes???
On Tuesday 16 th October A team of 39 girls from Form III, Lower IV and Upper IV challenged this record by running
211 laps of the 200m school track in a global campaign to fight hunger on World Food Day. The girls were fantastic
in their efforts and enthusiasm, fuelled by snacks, great weather and music to complete the 26.2 miles in 2 hours
and 34 minutes. This was just 31 minutes off the world record but a fantastic result as they are currently in FIRST
POSITION GLOBALLY with this time for an all girls team. A fantastic result! Well done!
