<strong>Jasmina</strong> Grković-<strong>Major</strong><br />
Born in 1959 (Stanišić). Finished elementary school in Novi Sad. Graduated from<br />
secondary school (grammar school) in Novi Sad in 1977, as the best student in arts<br />
and humanities. B.A. in South Slavic Linguistics from the University of Novi Sad<br />
(Faculty of Philosophy) in 1981. M.A. in Linguistics in 1984 from the University of<br />
Novi Sad. Ph.D. in Philology from the University of Novi Sad (Faculty of Philosophy)<br />
in 1990 (thesis: The Language of the Psalter from the Crnojević Printing House).<br />
Attended courses of foreign languages abroad during studies (Bordeaux, Berlin,<br />
Lyon, Munich, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kiev, Paris). From 1982 Assistant Lecturer<br />
at the Department of South Slavic Languages, from 1991 Assistant Professor, from<br />
1995 Associate Professor, and since 2000 Full Professor for Old Church Slavonic and<br />
Comparative Grammar of Slavic Languages at Department of Serbian Language and<br />
Linguistics, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Novi Sad. Visiting Professor at the<br />
University of Banja Luka since 2005. University courses: Old Church Slavonic,<br />
Serbian Church Slavonic, Comparative Grammar of Slavic languages<br />
(undergraduate studies), Basics of Old Church Slavonic Syntax (graduate studies),<br />
Theoretical and methodological bases of historical syntax, Historical semantics and<br />
lexicology. Mentor for many diploma papers and M.A. theses, and six PhD theses.<br />
Head of the Department of Serbian Language and Linguistics at the Faculty of<br />
Philosophy in Novi Sad. Member of the Board for Old Church Slavonic of the Serbian<br />
Academy of Sciences and Arts, member of the Board of the Department for<br />
Literature and Language of Matica srpska and the Executive Boards of Matica<br />
srpska, secretary of Njegoš Board of Matica srpska. Member of Societas Linguistica<br />
Europaea and the Serbian Society for classical studies. Editorial board member of<br />
Zbornik Matice srpske za filologiju i lingvistiku, Editor-in-Chief of Prilozi proučavanju<br />
jezika, Editor-in-Chief of the edition Lingvističke sveske, member of the scientific<br />
board for linguistics / philology for the Serbian Encyclopedia. Awarded by the<br />
"Aleksandar Belić" fund (Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts) in 1994 for the<br />
best linguistic book (in the category of young scholars). Awarded by the Board for<br />
the Celebration of 500 Years of the first Cyrillic Printing House among South Slavs<br />
(Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts) in 1994. Coordinator of the project<br />
History of Serbian Language (financed by the Ministry for Science of the Republic of<br />
Serbia, 2001-2010, with researchers from Novi Sad and Niš). Worked on the<br />
projects The History of Serbocroatian Literary and Vernacular Language (1982-<br />
2000) and The Cyrillic Manuscripts of the Matica srpska Library (1988-1999). In the<br />
framework of the scholarly exchange between the University in Novi Sad and the<br />
University in Regensburg, she is the coordinator of the Serbian part of the subject<br />
Sprachwandel im Serbischen und anderen slavischen Sprachen (2009-2011). Guest<br />
at several foreign universities (research programmes and/or lectures): Harvard<br />
University (Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures, 1988), The Ohio State<br />
University (Resource Center for Medieval Slavic Studies, 1997); Institut für
Slawistik der Universität Wien (2002), Institut für Slawistik der Universität<br />
Regensburg (2008, 2009). Participated in many international congresses and<br />
conferences in the country and abroad (Brno, Veliko Trnovo, Columbus - USA,<br />
Krakow, Moscow, Ohrid, Regensburg, Sofia). Published the following books:<br />
