The <strong>Senior</strong> <strong>Vice</strong> <strong>President</strong> has the primary responsibility <strong>of</strong> overseeing International<br />
Conference planning and coordinating the activities <strong>of</strong> the Operations and<br />
Constitution Committees.<br />
2009 Conference Planning<br />
The International Conference Planning Meeting was held September 25, 2008 at the<br />
Hyatt Regency Wichita in Wichita, Kansas. The purpose <strong>of</strong> the planning meeting was<br />
to review and finalize key elements for the 68 th Annual International Conference,<br />
which will be held at the same location May 16-20, 2009. The Wichita Chapter host<br />
committee, led by Co-Chairmen Victor Graham and Patrick Brown presented a status<br />
<strong>of</strong> all elements <strong>of</strong> the conference. This committee is well-organized and passionate<br />
about providing a first class conference. My thanks go to <strong>President</strong> Schultz for<br />
chairing this meeting in my absence. Teleconference calls were conducted regularly<br />
in the 4 months leading up to the conference to move forward with detail planning.<br />
Future Conferences<br />
2010 - Virginia Beach, Virginia<br />
The 69 th Annual International Conference will be hosted by the Hampton Roads<br />
Chapter, led by Co-Chairmen Bill Boze and Michael Diggs at the Hilton Virginia<br />
Beach Oceanfront, May 22-26, 2010. The planning meeting is scheduled for October<br />
8, 2009 at the same location. The hotel contracts for both events are complete and<br />
have been signed <strong>of</strong>f by all required parties. D. Jay Feldman <strong>of</strong> Executive Meetings<br />
assisted with site selection and conducted the contract negotiations.<br />
2011 - Houston, Texas<br />
The 70 th Annual International Conference will be hosted by the Houston Chapter, led<br />
by Chairman Rick Watkins and Co-Chairman Andreas Schuster at the Hilton Houston<br />
Westchase, May 14-18, 2011. The planning meeting will be held in the fall <strong>of</strong> 2010.<br />
The hotel contract is in the final approval stage, but has not been signed <strong>of</strong>f at the<br />
time <strong>of</strong> this report. D. Jay Feldman <strong>of</strong> Executive Meetings assisted with site selection<br />
and conducted the contract negotiations.<br />
2012<br />
I sent letters to each <strong>of</strong> the Chapter Directors to solicit bids to host the 71 st Annual<br />
International Conference. I followed with letters to each <strong>of</strong> the chapter <strong>of</strong>ficers <strong>of</strong> the<br />
chapters that I believe are in the best position to present a bid at this time. These<br />
chapters are Canada, Central European, Rocky Mountain, St. Louis, Texas, and<br />
United Kingdom. At the time <strong>of</strong> this report, no chapters have confirmed that they will<br />
submit a bid.<br />
Constitution and Operations Manual Committees<br />
The <strong>Senior</strong> <strong>Vice</strong> <strong>President</strong> is responsible for nominating the Committee Chairs and<br />
serving on the Constitution and Operations Manual Committees. Glen Maijala served<br />
as Constitution Committee Chair and Wes Kleinschmidt as Operations Manual<br />
Committee Chair.<br />

Operations Manual Committee<br />
No changes have been proposed for the Operations Manual at the time <strong>of</strong> this report. Any additional information<br />
is available in the Operations Manual Committee Report (6.26.1). The current version (Revision S, Version 2,<br />
Issue Date: 24 April 2007) is available at the SAWE website.<br />
It has been a privilege to serve SAWE as the <strong>Senior</strong> <strong>Vice</strong> <strong>President</strong> for the past two years.<br />
