The Hagley Development Office is pleased to work with
you to create a sponsorship package that meets the needs
of your company. Each package contains admission tickets
and marketing exposure, and many have opportunities for
entertaining. Each presenting sponsor will be the only sponsor
accepted in its business category.

Invention Convention
Hagley’s Invention Convention
Month Held: January 16, 18, and 18, 2010
Sponsorship: Several levels available
Description: During Hagley’s Invention Convention, held over the Martin
Luther King, Jr., holiday, children in grades K-6 learn problem-solving
skills through interactive, hands-on invention activities. They discover that
inventing something new is possible for everyone. One activity, “Build Your
Own Invention and Apply for a Hagley Patent,” helps children understand
the invention process as a way to solve problems or express creative ideas. In
the “Tinkering Corner,” young children take apart appliances (without getting
into trouble!) to see how they work, helping to demystify technology and the
invention process. The Factory System Workshop activity teaches children
how an assembly line simplifies building an invention. And, new for 2010
is a supporting education program, an essay contest, organized by Hagley
Museum for middle-school students focusing on patents. The winners of the
contest will be presented with awards at Invention Convention.
$5,000 Discovery Sponsor – Discovery Sponsors will have their
company’s name listed in press releases, fliers, programs, and the annual
report. Your company name will also be linked with one of the following
activities of your choice: Build Your Own Invention, Tinkering Corner, or The
Factory System Workshop. Your employees will receive free admission to the
event for all three days.
$2,500 Essay Contest Sponsor – At this level, your company’s name will be
listed in press releases, fliers, programs, and the annual report. Your company
name will be linked to the Essay Contest, which will be promoted to middle
schools in Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, and Maryland. You will also
have the opportunity to participate in the Essay Contest Awards Ceremony at
Invention Convention and you will receive seventy-five passes for the event.
$1,500 Novelty Sponsor – Novelty Sponsors will have their company
name listed on programs, in publicity, and in the annual report. You will also
receive fifty passes for the event.
$1,000 Gadget Sponsor – Sponsors at this level will have their company
name listed on programs, in publicity, and in the annual report. You will also
receive thirty passes for the event.
$500 Friend Sponsor – Friend Sponsors will have their company name
listed on programs, in publicity, and in the annual report. You will also
receive fifteen passes for the event.

Description: The Golden Pheasants is Hagley’s membership
group for young affluents in the region, under the direction
of committee members Henry B. duPont IV, Brad and Pricilla
duPont, Brian and Tracy Fuchs, Jeff and Robin Kusumi, Dan
and Andrea Sarkissian, and Mark Talley. The Game Dinner
is limited to 120 guests, who dine in splendor on delicacies
prepared by the Wilmington Club and paired with fine wines.
Each year a new theme illustrates the history of the site for this
energetic audience. Deadline for sponsors to be included in
publicity is November.
Lead sponsorship includes: Two reserved tables for ten each,
opportunity to emcee the dinner raffle, and the opportunity to
provide a goodie bag for the attendees.
Regular sponsorship includes: A reserved table
for ten guests.
Both sponsorships include: Acknowledgement
on all Game Dinner materials and in the Hagley annual report.

and Workers’ Heritage Fest
Description: Hagley Museum invites visitors to celebrate
Valentine’s Day the Victorian way during Victorine’s Valentine
Day the Sunday before Valentine’s Day from 12:30 to 4 p.m.
Appropriately, the museum’s Valentine celebration will be
held on Hagley’s Workers’ Hill, where the focus is on people
and family history. It was here that Victorine du Pont Bauduy
(1792-1861), the eldest daughter of the DuPont Company
founder, spent time as superintendent of the Brandywine
Manufacturers’ Sunday School.
To round out an afternoon of fun spent in a nineteenthcentury
setting, visitors can make Victorian Valentines
and enjoy gingerbread hearts baked in a woodstove.
Approximately 250 visitors participate in the event each year.

Hagley’s Creek Kids
Hagley’s Creek Kids
Month Held: Two days per month in June, July, and August
Sponsorship: $1,500
($2,000 to include Invention Convention)
Description: Hagley’s Creek Kids Youth Leadership Program
is a hands-on history program based on the lives of children of
nineteenth-century powder workers that brings history to life
for our visitors. More than 2,100 visitors attended Creek Kids
in 2008.
Creek Kids offers our visitors hands-on experiences
including quilting, weaving, toy making, butter churning,
fishing, gardening and more. Visitors can create make-andtake
crafts, watch nineteenth-century baseball, write with
quill pens, make ice cream, and sail homemade wooden boats
in the millrace.
Creek Kids provides a dynamic training program for youth
volunteers ages 16 to 19. These teenagers learn and practice
public speaking and leadership skills in addition to developing
the hands-on skills needed to demonstrate sewing, toy
making, cooking, and gardening. While they make it look fun
(which it is!), they are also gaining valuable life skills.
Sponsor Receives: Six months of community
visibility with name on our event programs, publicity,
and annual report. In addition, you receive fifty
passes valid for any of the six Creek Kids events.

Workers’ Heritage Fest
Workers’ Heritage Fest
Month Held: March
Sponsorship: $1,500 for both Workers’ Heritage Fest and
Victorine’s Valentine Day
Description: Hagley Museum features a St. Patrick’s
Celebration each March on the Sunday before St. Patrick’s Day
from 12:30 to 4 p.m. The day brings some of the sights, sounds,
and aromas of Ireland to Hagley. Activities are included
with the museum’s regular admission. Approximately 350
visitors participate in the event each year. This celebration
of the workers who came from Ireland to find jobs in E. I.
du Pont’s powder yards offers visitors of all ages a chance to
enjoy a bit of Irish culture. A singing and storytelling duo fills
Hagley’s Brandywine Manufacturers’ Sunday School with
the sounds of fiddles, guitars, and fine vocals. In addition to
the musical entertainment, an expert presents information
on Irish genealogy searches; the McAleer School for Irish
Dance showcases children’s step dancing; the New Castle
County Irish Society demonstrates Ceili folk dancing; and
shamrocks, both live and crocheted, sprout from make-andtake
boutonnieres. “Wee ones” enjoy coloring a leprechaun or
writing with a quill pen in addition to the music and dancing.
Visitors can warm themselves with tea and scones like those
Mrs. Gibbons, wife of a powder-yard foreman, may have made
for her family in the Gibbons House kitchen. Since St. Patrick’s
Day is the traditional start of the planting season, there will be
an outdoor activity as well: in the workers’ garden, visitors can
help prepare the soil and plant peas and potatoes.

Power Up at Hagley
Power Up at Hagley
Month Held: April
Sponsorship: $2,500
Description: To celebrate Earth Day, Hagley Museum and
Library presents “Power Up at Hagley”, a day of educational
and entertaining family activities.
This event uses exhibits, demonstrations, and hands-on
activities to explore the many ways in which people have
harnessed forms of energy over time. From watermills to
biofuels, drying racks to photovoltaics, and steam power to fuel
cells, visitors can explore how renewable energies have evolved
with state-of-the-art technology to become the most promising
source of future energy.

Fireworks at Hagley
Hagley’s Fireworks
Month Held: Fridays, June 11 and 18, 2010
Sponsorship: Two VIP Field Packages ($5,000 level),
Four Entertainment Field Packages ($2,500 level),
and One VIP Copeland Room Reception Package ($7,500 level)
Description: Fireworks at Hagley is one of the premier fireworks shows in the
region. What makes the show unique is the combination of themed narration,
music, aerial displays, set pieces, and ground effects. Before the show, from 6 to 8
p.m. on each of the evenings, families can visit Kid Central to enjoy the bouncearound
castles, face painting, music, and activities. Attendance for both evenings
averages 7,500. Wilmington Trust is the presenting sponsor for fireworks.
Entertainment Field Package: These sponsorship opportunities are available
at $2,500 each. Located in the fireworks viewing field, this entertainment location
includes two six-foot tables, thirty plastic chairs, and no tent. Location provides
shade, expansive view of the show, and proximity to all activities. Catering and
entertainment is the responsibility of the sponsor. Package includes: 30 adult
tickets, 10 youth tickets, 7 parking passes, 1 VIP parking pass.
VIP Field Package: Two of these sponsorship opportunities are available at
$5,000 each—or one combined for $10,000. Located in the row of trees immediately
adjacent to the fireworks field, this entertainment location includes a tent, tables,
and chairs in the tent. Catering and entertainment is the responsibility of the
sponsor. The $5,000 level package includes: 75 adult tickets, 10 youth tickets, 18
parking passes, and 1 VIP parking pass. The $10,000 level package includes: 150
adult tickets, 20 youth tickets, 38 parking passes, and 2 VIP parking passes.
VIP Copeland Room Package: One package at this level is available for $7,500.
This entertainment venue, located in the Library, is adjacent to the parking area
and Kid Central and includes an indoor venue, tables, chairs, and electricity.
Cooking permitted in the adjacent kitchen. Catering and entertainment is the
responsibility of the sponsor. Package includes: 100 adult tickets, 25 parking
passes, and 20 youth tickets.

Bike and Hike at Hagley
Bike and Hike
Month Held: Wednesdays in July and August
Sponsorship: $1,500
($2,000 to also include Hagley’s Creek Kids sponsorship)
Description: Hagley’s Bike and Hike evenings are perfect
for family fun, a romantic picnic and stroll, or an invigorating
workout. Bike and Hike is held every Wednesday evening in
July and August, weather permitting, from 5 to 8 p.m. Cost is
$2 per person.
Visitors have access to the entire three-mile loop from the
Visitor Center to Eleutherian Mills, the du Pont ancestral
home. There are many paths to accommodate everything from
training wheels to ten speeds and casual walkers to serious
hikers. Visitors can wander through the old powder yard,
follow the narrow-gauge railroad tracks to the Birkenhead
Mills, stroll under the Iron Bridge and past the DuPont
Company’s 150th-anniversary marker. For a more intense
workout, there is the route that climbs uphill past the Soda
House and beyond the Library building and loops around the
E. I. du Pont Restored Garden.
Visitors are welcome to bring a picnic dinner to enjoy at
Hagley along the Brandywine River. Hagley’s “Easy Does It!”
exhibit will be open for youngsters to explore simple machine
technology. Kids of all ages can figure out how gears, levers,
and pulleys help to pedal, lift, work, and play in this handson
exhibit.

Description: Celebrate fall at Hagley’s Golden Pheasants
Harvest Party! Designed for families who love fall activities,
the Harvest Party attracts an affluent group from the region.
The activities begin with bluegrass and folk music by the
White Clay Tributary band. A local artist carves large
pumpkins into amazing sculptures. Youngsters have fun
with playing nineteenth-century games with Hagley’s Creek
Kids, enjoy a make-and-take craft activity, and join in a candy
scavenger hunt. Hayrides take families on a colorful trip
through Hagley’s property. The picnic dinner features all of
the traditional favorites, including barbecued chicken, hot
dogs, hamburgers, baked beans, potato salad, mixed fruit, and
dessert. Beer and wine are served (only to those twenty-one
years or age and older). Deadline for sponsors to be included in
the publicity is June. Attendance averages 250.
Lead sponsorship includes: Forty passes with a
special reception area and the opportunity to announce
the pumpkin winners.
Regular sponsorship includes: Twenty passes for
the event.
Both sponsorships include: Acknowledgement on all

Hagley Car Show
Hagley Car Show

Description: Hagley’s Car Show is the premier car show in the region.
Thousands of car enthusiasts gather at Hagley every September to
marvel at more than 500 cars in the general field and 100 vehicles in the
special feature. Unique to the Hagley Car Show is its beautiful setting
near Eleutherian Mills, the original home of the du Pont family, and
the distinctive cars it attracts every year. Visitors come primarily from
Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and New Jersey.
$5,000 Entertainment Sponsor - Your company’s name will appear in
press releases, fliers, programs, and the annual report; and included in
day-of-show announcements. You will have the opportunity to entertain
in the Great Room of the Hagley Barn (room, tables, chairs, and building
manager provided). You’ll also receive 100 family passes for the event,
ten VIP parking passes, forty wrist bands, and a select viewing area with
seating for twenty along the parade route.
$1,500 Vehicle Sponsor - At this level you will have the opportunity
to showcase two vehicles or your company at the event. You may set
up a display with one six-foot table and two chairs (optional). You will
be included in day-of-show announcements, on the program, and in
the annual report. You will receive fifteen passes for the event, two VIP
parking passes, and eight wristbands.
$1,000 Car Enthusiast Sponsor - This level gives you the opportunity
to display promotion flyers at Hagley’s information booth or showcase one
vehicle at the event. You will be included in day-of-show announcements,
on the program, and in the annual report. You will receive ten family
passes for the event, one VIP parking pass, and four wristbands.
$500 Friend Sponsor - Friend Sponsors will have their name listed on

Hagley Craft Fair
Hagley Craft Fair
Month Held: October
Sponsorship: $1,500
Description: Hagley’s Craft Fair brings together local
and regional talent for a stunning artisans’ marketplace
stocked with high-quality original arts and crafts for relaxed
shopping in a scenic setting. Approximately 2,000 shoppers
attend each year.
A special feature of the fair is the raffle, with prizes donated
by the artisans. Each visitor will receive one free raffle ticket
upon admission to the fair. Additional tickets are earned with
each purchase from an artisan. For a shopping break, the fair
features a dining area where Hagley’s Belin House Restaurant
serves upscale bistro fare including sandwiches, soups, salads,
and homemade dessert items.

Christmas at Hagley
Christmas at Hagley
Month Held: Thanksgiving Weekend through December
Sponsorship: $1,500 (Options are available for company
parties, client entertaining, and exclusive tours)
Description: During the holidays at Hagley, the du Pont
family ancestral home, known as Eleutherian Mills, will be
decorated for the season and open for tours. This display will
be open daily from the Friday following Thanksgiving through
the end of December, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Attendance
averages 4,000 visitors for the month-long event.
Visitors will find holiday decorations reflecting the
furnishings and style that Louise du Pont Crowninshield
used as she occupied it from 1925 to 1958. Decorations will
evoke the Colonial Revival style. Made popular by Colonial
Williamsburg, this style makes use of holly, pine roping
with ribbons, poinsettias, and liberal quantities of dried
plant materials mostly grown at Hagley, as well as fruit, for
decorations. Four Christmas trees, wreaths, holiday music,
decorative mantelpieces, and many other decorations will fill
the home to give it a warm and inviting holiday atmosphere.
One returning favorite is the elaborate Twelfth Night display
in the dining room, which uses Mrs. Crowninshield’s plumband
French porcelain dessert service (1800-1836).
